Seems like this never got realised. Teutonic crusades sound good, but bear in mind that crusader units are not available in early on MP, and the new russian units are only available in early; I think. Perhaps normal feudal knights and spears will have to represent the Teutonic order...
How about trying to get something going this weekend? Anyone up for it?

Ok we still have 3 scenarios to do:

    -English vs French ...Agincourt
    -Hungary vs Ottoman
    -Alexander

Wolf would you like to start with Agincourt ?

Give me a shout if you decide to give Liegnitz a try..or Kalka. I had near enough historical armies worked out for a 4v4 Liegnitz battle, if anyone is interested I can dig them out and post them here.
One point, I comprised them using CBR's Community Mod. Has anyone here tried it? For re-enactment type battles this Mod would be great.
Anyway, just give me a nod if there's any interest

    .....Orda

P.S...Nigel, I looked at the replay of last night's Turk fest. Your two units of Jannisary Archers had a full compliment of sixty men each at the end of the battle...Amazing
Considering they stood in the thick of battle...How audacious is that?....

it would be great to get these running on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule, at the same time. We could start with your battles, and move onto others. I want to try towton later, it would be nice to make a custom map for it ad use DJ's WoTR mod

    Orda (sidetracking),

yes, that was really amazing. One unit stood right there in the melee, almost touching the tail of the enemy genral's horse, and fired away while the battle raged all around them. Whole unit came out that day without loosing a man. Gosh, that is gonna be expensive in terms of medals....

    Back on track:
can't promise I will join you in every recreation battle, if you are having them that regularly. But the one or the other would surely interest me.

Heh I remember seeing the beginning of this thread before I started playing MP. Good idea it was, I had been thinking before this summer of having some historical battles with clannies, based on a custom era (more suitable factions and units for such battles, had the general layout of some maps like Manzikert drawn) we were about to start working on but things happened and ...

Anyway, bump just for the bumpity of it:)

...we could do a Crécy for starters;)

This week though we 'll be getting into the final phase before the release of the Dux mp mod beta, so maybe in a tenday a re-enactment using new units like English Foot Knights, Chevaliers Royaux, Genoese Crossbowmen and many others could be possible.

Don't roll eyes at the same time Cain heh

It wouldn't be hard to find another 3-4 people willing to participate anyway.

I also think that the current historical maps in VI aren't that suitable for MP play and historical re-enactments, due to their size (not suitable for 4v4) and the fact that they are not presenting the players with good starting positions. As historical battles in SP are scripted, the player isn't placed on a north-south axis, but rather where the scripter wants him to start. So maybe I 'll try to come up with a custom made map based on Osprey, time permitting.

I problem Ive always found is that its difficult to get a team together at the same time online. Maps and starting positions can be over come and a 4v4 battle can be achieved with a little imagination.

But it always comes back to the same problem getting a team together, on a regular basis. Clans of similar interest dont have this problem as they collect together and if they become large enough will always have enough people to take part. (When shades were running at its peak in Shogun we always gathered together on Friday night for games. When shades progressed to join with Battle royale over on the Battlefield games this continued)

My suggest would be to form a team (not as a clan) who share history as an interest, preferably the same period ie 1066-500 as an example. From that you could start to put the nucleus together to form a groups of online battlers who enjoy reinactments.
