My Daimyo keeps on dying of an illness, I think he is being poisoned, I built border watch towers and forts to protect him, I also posted Ninja's and Shinobi's in the province he was in, what more can I do?

Sos believe me, you WILL know when ur Daimyo is beeing assinated... The reason why he keeps dieing is he age. Try to click on ur daimyo and see how old he is. If you have had the daimyo for looong time and he dies, the heirs will also be of old age, and within a few years the will die too.

Is there any way, then, that I can stop him dying, or have more heirs. Another question, how do you garrison men in castles?

You must train a Geisha and send to your own Daimyo, in order to get more children and heirs.

P.S.: Ignore the "Geisha killing the Daimyo" video.

I've been playing Shogun for 15yrs and I've never heard of that. My understanding is that you have a set number of heirs (hard coded for each clan) and that's it. If you don't become Shogun before your last heir dies...you lose

Sorry SOS theres no life support system to keep your Daimyo's mojo going indefinatly, its all part of the game.

To put your unit in the castle, drag the unit icon over top of the castle, and drop by realessing your left hand mouse button.

Clink, I'm ashamed of you, sending the poor newb off to torture himself for hours on end!

You CAN'T put units in castles! *Period*. Don't even try. And it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference anyway. If you are attacked and want to retreat to the castle, that option is open no matter where the troop is.

Well, actually, with the x-pack, you CAN get your guys back into castles, but only by retraining them. Of course here again, there is no point in getting them into the castle, you are retraining them solely for the various benefits that that entails.

    Actually its not ENTIRELY useless....
sometimes you have a huge army in the province and it gets crowded sometimes - so u can use a castle army to hold a few extra units and help the overcrowding situation.

You can also use it to help hide a Diaymo. If the enemy hold no bordering provinces and have no spies in the province (You'll need ninja's etc. to counter this) then the enemy cannot work out where your Diaymo is and consequently where to send geishas, ninjas or armies if they're trying to wipe you out by killing hiers etc. The only trouble with this idea is that this would only really be effective against another person. Ah well. Another tactical idea down the drain then

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's harder for a ninja to asassinate if his target is in a castle.

I dunno, but does it make any difference in the cinematics where your Daimyo is if get assasinated??? Cuz I know I've seen somewhere he, or a general, are in either a camp or fort

I thought it's EASIER to assasinate a target in the castle.

Just drop a ninja/geisha onto the enemy taisho, you will see that the percentage of assasinating someone in the castle is higher. (seems real weird, indeed, you would expect a caslte to be better guarded than a camp).

-->Its actually the little icon in the bottom panel. Back in the day I struggled trying to drag an army piece in

I would say it easier for a PLAYER to assasinate a dynamo in a castle because you know they are not going to move on the next turn. However, the percentage thing sounds a little strange.
