    Factions are
    Hojo, Imagawa, Shimazu,
    Oda, Uesugi, Takeda,
    Rebels, and The Mongols.

Each Faction can have at least 19 heroes,
    so there's plenty of vacancies

I'm sure Clan Shinkage can create a few Samurai Heroes for the mod. Post info here?

    Hmmm......may I pick a Mongol Hero?....
    ....Orda...
No idea about the stats really but let's see...
    Very loyal.....7?
    Acumen....well quite intelligent..perhaps 3 or 4
    Dread....maybe 2 or 3, he's not really that mean
Command...this is a wiley, cunning Noyan we are talking about who seems to know his troops well......7 or 8
Piety.....Pagan by nature but with no real religious interest..2 or 3
Virtues....a very gifted strategist who is an expert attacker and a skillful defender
Vices....so he likes a drink..the odd goblet or 4 of wine is good for you. Isn't it?

    --------------------

    Other choices for Mongols....
    Jebe
    Subedei
    Jochi
    Batu
    Muqali

    .......Orda

i have tried to assign multiple V&V's to heroes - the game will only allow one
    so pick your favourite V&V,

one patron (TNG) chose killer3 which translates to murderer for her Hero :-) simply because she's a black hearted meanie

the engine will not allow me to assign a Hero to a specific unit type,
sorry the Hero options are not that detailed,

I believe i can assign provinces, will have to experiment with that one

and the engine also supports only one V&V
    - i wish it was more...

B, If this is for VI and you are using the Heroes file you can assign Unit Types, Province it will appear in and date it will appear.
    // FAMOUS_HEROES::
// This sets up heroes for a faction, the number shows how many entries are to be read in
// The forename and surname must correspond to an entry in names.txt or changes.txt
// Date is the year that this character will start to become available
// Possible types are: GENERAL, SPY, ASSASSIN, EMISSARY, BISHOP, CARDINAL, INQUISITOR,
// GRAND_INQUISITOR, PRIEST, ORTHODOX_BISHOP, MULLAH, ULAMA, and PRINCESS
// Region list the place where the character will appear from, ID_LIMBO means it will appear randomly.

Sanada Yukimura (1570 or 67? to May 7, 1615) fought against the Tokugawa at the Battle of Sekigahara and again at the Seige of Osaka Castle.

    Loyalty: 10
    Acumen: 3
    Command: 6
    Piety: 0
    Dread:5

    V&V Fine Leader (+4 morale, +2 loyalty)

1567 - Sanada Yukimura is born the second son of Motô Kihei (Sanada Masayuki) at Koufu, Kai province. He became leader of the Sanada family which allied with Toyotomi Hideyori and fought against Tokugawa Ieyasu. His strategems in Toyotomi's last battles against Tokugawa are famous still, but he nevertheless wound up on the losing side of the war. History does not record what happened to him after Hideyori's defeat and suicide in 1615.

    Historical note:

Toyotomi Hideyori, 1593-1615, was the son and designated successor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the general who first united all of Japan and who had served under Oda Nobunaga.

However, Hideyoshi died in 1598 and his armies lost the Battle of Sekigahara to Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1600, who then seized power. Continuing to view the young Hideyori as a potential threat, Ieyasu attacked Hideyori in the Siege of Osaka in 1614. The attack failed, but Hideyori was induced to sign a truce and dismantle the defenses of his stronghold Osaka Castle.

In 1615, Ieyasu betrayed the truce and attacked again. Hideyori was forced to flee to the mountains, where he committed suicide at the age of 22, putting an end to the Toyotomi clan and paving the way for the 250-year Tokugawa Shogunate.

The Last ride of Sakai Tetsuo

after rescuing a hostage from the Somo, Sakai Tetsuo and his band are ambushed by mounted Yari Ashigaru, The Ashi realise they are outclassed by Tetsuo and his Naginata weilding band and dismount, knowing their spears will give them an advantage against the horsemen...

...a hard thrust spear lanced into his horse's stomach, sending it crashing to the ground.

Tetsuo leapt to his feet in time to be swarmed by a horde of Somo ashigaru, their spear seeking vengeance for the havoc created by their bloodthirsty enemies. Tetsuo lashed out, his naginata a blur in the faint pre-dawn light. Man after man fell, but there were too many and in moments, he was surrounded by spearmen who darted in to strike with their longer weapons. Tetsuo took wound after wound, but despite dropping five foemen and wounding another three he was surely doomed.

Suddenly a spearman was thrown over as Akimoto's horse crashed into the circle of Somo ashigaru. He hacked another down with his sword, shouting for Tetsuo to mount behind him. With the last of his strength, Tetsuo sprang for Akimoto's horse and grabbing his outstretched hand was pulled up. Spurring the horse, Akimoto quickly drew out of range of the foot soldiers while Tetsuo clung on for all he was worth.

They caught up with the rest of the party who had pushed the wagon from the road and ridden to a small rise at the edge of the causeway. Tetsuo slid from the back of Akimoto's horse and fell to the ground. His kimono was covered in blood and was carrying half a dozen wounds. Motuku jumped down and tearing some strips from his kimono bandaged the worst of Tetsuo's wounds.

"I am sorry Tetsuo-san, I cannot stop the bleeding," Motuku said quietly as he realised that his attempts to stem the flow of blood from Tetsuo's battered body were unsuccessful.

"Tetsuo-san, you are bleeding to death. You have some choices to make. Either you ride with us until you collapse, or one of your comrades can help you into the void or you can ride to battle one last time," Hanbo said helpfully, "either way, decide quickly because there are more enemy coming."

Tetsuo watched the approaching samurai. He knew his duty. He had to delay them as long as possible to give the others time to get Prince Heihachiro away.

Perhaps I will get to take my vengeance against Togai in the afterlife, he thought and laughed. Behind him, he saw Motuku had ridden some way after him, a bow in his hand. Returning his gaze to the enemy he stood in his stirrups and shouted his challenge.

"I am Sakai Tetsuo, son of Sakai Yoshiro-no-Ariki I challenge any one of you motherless curs to face me in single combat, wounded as I am. Who dares to face me?"

The Somo samurai slowed their advance. They could see that the man approaching was mortally wounded and after a moment one spurred ahead of the others.

"I am Hirada Ichizo, vassal of Lord Somo Yoriyuki. I dare to face you ronin."

The appellation "ronin" enraged Tetsuo who spurred his horse into a gallop, screaming the Arai battle cry: "Ogame-saammaaa"

Dragging hard on his reins he swerved his horse to the left and swung a vicious cut that went straight past his opponent's block and sawed through his stomach. He left the man tumbling from his saddle, spilling entrails as he fell. The rest of the Somo samurai, seeing the sudden death of their companion at the hands of the wounded Tetsuo immediately charged.

Guiding his horse with his knees Tetsuo rode between two of the Somo and cut at one, lancing his naginata blade deep into the man's groin. He fell screaming, and Tetsuo shouted his triumph. The second man's slash opened yet another wound on Tetsuo's shoulder but he felt no pain. He was at one with the universe and life was good for the first time in over a year. He ignored the man that had cut him and aimed for another. A two handed sweep hacked into the unfortunate's thigh, nearly severing his leg and sending him reeling from the melee. Tetsuo ducked another slash and again his naginata tasted blood; another Somo samurai dropped his sword and slid forward onto his horse's neck, his chest streaming blood from a deep slash.

A blade nicked his arm, and he laughed at the Somo "Is that the best you can do?"

Spurring towards the foe, Tetsuo felt cold, and realised that he was near death. The moment that he had trained for as a samurai his entire life. "Merciful Buddha, Grant me a few moments more", he cried as he swept his naginata around for another strike.
Two Somo remained mounted and attacking him. They pressed forward, not without some courage in the face of the apparent madman who was attacking them. Tetsuo's naginata darted forward past the guard of one and sliced a line of red across the man's shoulder. Even as he shouted in triumph once more, the remaining Somo samurai plunged his sword into Tetsuo's chest. His naginata fell from his hands and he fought back against the blackness that was engulfing him.

Slowly, he slid forward then fell to the ground. He lay on his back and looked at the sky. The first rays of sunlight broke over the eastern hills...

    Testsuo's last ride...
