The throne room is an atmospheric feature of Shogun.
You have to have run a full install for it to work, and turn it on in the options.
It's not an essential part of the game, and I never used it as the computer I used for Shogun was pretty old and slow without putting more files on it
As long as you've got a later than stone age computer though, I'd stick it on and see what you think. You can always turn it off later if you decide it sucks

Knew I'd seen something about it somewhere....
Try the Sword Dojo, there is a topic there called 'Throw things at the new guy' Which contains rather a lot of info about the throne room.
Hey, as some of them actually used it, they might know more than me

You can enter the throne room through the button featuring your clan symbol, next to the train and build buttons. You do need to have a full install and enabled it in the options menu. It is mainly for the atmosphere although it does have a few functions. You will recieve emissaries over there (instead of just getting a pop-up menu) and you can consult your advisor. But the advisor gives only gives a pre-programmed sequence of quotes from Chino-Japanese sources . But the throne room also contains a map Japan, showing the owner of every province in Japan, not just the one's you neighbour.Originally Posted by [b

the map can be used to go from one place to another without scrolling....
the quotes are nice, but there isn't much variation in them and they'll bore you soon
I wich you could chop of the emmisary's head, just like they do to your messager. Any ideas?

really; it happens. for example, I was allied with Imagawa; I refused to ally with him, next turn took him 2 provinces, then asked for ceasefire. He sent my emissaries head back; I still have a screenshot with the head being displayed on a plate in the throne roomOriginally Posted by [b
Oh, did you mean it like that, sorry, misinterpretation
you know what the message sais you get back
'only part of your emmisary has returned from his mission'
brilliant
