    Default Quotes list

    I have begun working on a list of quotes for the loading screens. So far there are about 20 on it. Relivent Quotes from this time period seem to be extremely hard to find. Does anyone want to help with this?

    (or more horribly for myself has anyone already done this? )

    1513 - From The Prince:

    "Anyone who determines to act in all circumstances the part of a good man must come to ruin among so many who are not good. Hence, if a prince wishes to maintain himself, he must learn how not to be good, and to use that ability or not as is required."

    "The experience of our times shows that the princes who have done great things are the ones who have taken little account of their promises and who have known how to addle the brains of men with their craft."

    If men were all good, this advice would not be good, but since men are wicked and do not keep their promises to you, you likewise do not have to keep your promises to them."

    "So far as he is able, a prince should stick to the path of good but, if the necessity arises, he should know how to follow evil."

    To fight and not to heed the wounds;
    To toil and not to seek for rest;
    To labor and not to ask for any reward
    Save that of knowing that we do Thy will."

    Henri IV 1553 - 1610

    I also made a list of possibly usefull quotes but I am not sure how many pages it would take up most of them would probably not be used but I have maybe 200 of them so you probably will get something out of them.

    Here's my absolute favorite quote from the Medieval period.

    "Caedite eos! Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius!"

    "Slay them all! God will know his own!"

    -Arnold Amaury at the burning of Beziers, on July 22, 1209, when asked for orders on how his knights were to distinguish his own soldiers from the "heretic" defenders of Beziers.
    And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder,
    One of the four beasts sang, "Come and see,"
    And I saw, and behold, a white horse.

    And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts,
    And I looked, and behold, a pale horse,
    And his name it said on him was Death,
    And Hell followed with him.

    I say we should translate them all before implementing. I don't want any Latin quotes or the player will feel like he/she is playing RTW all over again.

    "He who sheds his blood with me on this day shall be my Brother." -Henry V at the battle of Agincourt
