Thread: Chance To Kill

    Default Chance To Kill

    Ive been checking this section like every once in a while but looks very quiet here, so here is one if u guys can help me with my curiosity. It is a subject of "Chance to Kill". What im on about is this.. (we talking infantry with same amount of units) Which one should I choose between these two

    Unit A Attack 9 Def 1
    Unit B Attack 5 Def 5

    and it is a 1v1 between these two with no added bonus for either of them just these two stats that are different. I remember vaguely that the equation for

    Chance To Kill = 1.9% * 1.2 ^ df

    where df is attackers att - defenders def + any combat bonus (we making this constant between these 2)

    So in the attack cycle of Unit A, they will get df=4 ...... (9-5)
    and when its Unit B's turn to attack it is also df=4 .......(5-1)

    Few needs confimation from u guys..

    1. So am I correct in saying these two units have the same combat ability?

    2. Does shields counts towards def stat of each unit?

    3. Am I going totally crazy or am I going in a right direction?

    Please feel free if u get any better advise on how I should confront this subject.

    Yes but this isn't exactly correct, as charge bonus will be the decider, and usually the unit with the higher attack and charge bonus will start getting a cumulative advantage from the moment a contact with the enemy is made (assuming the at+def total is the same).

    2. Does shields counts towards def stat of each unit?
    If they are designated to count, then yes. As a general rule they do count, unless they got a decimal modifier like 0.5 (eg, CK) or are units which use two handed weapons in melee combat (eg Varangians).

    3. Am I going totally crazy or am I going in a right direction?

    Possibly just a bit,

    Where do you find all these stats?!

    I do think that its ore fun to play without thinking about them even if it means you (I) lose loads more.

    In short Unit A and B kill each other :)

    They kill each other yes.. but what if I tell you that Unit A is cheaper than Unit B? That could be a difference.. knowing how good/bad they can perform on battlefield. The game is for fun but i couldnt help being a stat junkie!!! Bout the stats, I got it from somewhere when I usually do my surfing when u are not around to play with me!!

    I play Rome/BI a bit, but its just not the same as VI. You know what I mean!
