    Spoiler for DS9 viewers:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
She died a fairly horrible death in Star Trek Deepspace Nine, playing almost the same character though

Imbetween the actress does seem to have been criminally underutilised between One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and STDS9.

    The Kingdom

It was ok. Not fantastic. Besides the ridiculous aspect that four FBI agents are practically like Delta force now, the action shots are pretty decent.
The story is eh but some of the acting is pretty good.
Though I question why some of the characters are even there since they seem pretty useless, like the guy who keeps complaining about everything.
And the fact that it tries to do too much over the movie.

    7.5/10

Im watching 3:10 to Yuma (the newer one) tonight so Ill post a review tomorrow.

Yeh, I guess it's alright. But, so many people list it as one of the greatest movies ever made. I didn't find it that interesting. I mean it had it's moments. But, the narration irritated me and the action was too sparse and the drama very "who gives a damn". Scorsese's made better films IMHO, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver are much better of his films.

Flags of our fathers, great movie. Seen it before but didn't remember all that much. It manages to make you feel disgusted about every every death, American and Japanese. Clint Eastwood is a great director, it has this 'shut up and listen' quality without ever feeling patronising like Saving Private Ryan for example, a movie that has fantastic scenes but never really convinces, Flags of our fathers feels more like a solemn passing of knowledge to a new generation. Most haunting, a soldier who gets stabbed screams out amazed 'he's killing me' as if he's crying out for his mother. That really got to me and I wish I never saw it really, it's what I rather not think about.

    Il Divo

Pretty interesting movie about political intrigues and great actors! Long time since I saw a movie that good, sometimes a bit complicated and it goes very fast. Great Italian history movies. You would need subtitles for it, because it's all in Italian.

Children of the Corn, a clear example of a Stephen 'can't wrap it up' King story. Starts out with a great sense of mystery only to end in the most redicous fashion imaginable. The Shining and Misery being the exceptions.

    Yep.

Brick. Modern film noir thriller. The dialogue can be wordy and off putting at first, but the plot and the acting will suck you in. Would recommend, a damn fine film.

    The Hangover part II

More of the same, really. If you liked the first one, you'll most likely enjoy this one too. The first half of the movie is pretty slow, but it improves as it goes.

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

    The Hangover Part 2

It was ok. Almost a carbon copy, but when you reflect on it, its really quite revolting in comparison to the first. More nudity (of the unwanted kind) and much more drastic actions...

I wouldn't call them twins really. also James Bradley is a fantastic writer. He wrote another book called Flyboys which was good as well. Flags of our fathers is superb.

Actually pretty good. Nice action, but relatively weak plot. Oh well, I still give it an 8.

I liked X-Men: First Class What I enjoyed particularly was the sense of reading a comic having been preserved and sort embedded into the cinematic experience.

I hadn't seen any of the other films or read the comics prior to going to the film. I didn't even know that the comic existed at all...

For me X-Men: First Class was enjoyable, but nothing special. I'd rather have rented it and had a few beers while watching, than gone seen it in the theatre.

I bought my 12 year old niece The Human Centipede because I thought it was the sequal to the Happy Caterpillar. She did not like it.

On a similar note, the Human Centipede II is available in the bootleg movie shop here in Kabul. I hear it has TEH BAN in the civilized world.

    More on topic,

    Watched True Grit.

    Sucked.

    Why?
No John Wayne dammit and Matt Damons character would be a pedophile in our world. Mostly the John Wayne thing.

I second that (though I'd give it an 8), that movie was great. Not that I know particulary many films that are about the Pacific WWII.

Also watch 'Flags of our Fathers', Clint Eastwood really wanted to portray both sides so he made two movies. Wrote some praise few post earlier.

I knew about that movie, haven't seen it yet though.

The point still stands though, while I know about a million WWII movies about Europe there seem to be much fewer about the Pacific, the two mentioned excepted.

Maybe it's because Germans are better movie villains than Japanese...

Maybe they also think european market isn't interested as it doesn't concern them. Would love to get some suggestions on more, like WW1 the pacific feels very sinister to me for some reason, like a death machine

Not exactly a movie, but if you want to see a good WWII Pacific campaign mini-series, The Pacific is out, and it's really good. Essentially it's like Band of Brothers with Marines in the Pacific, but it doesnt feel re-hashed at all. Every bit as good, and the whole Marine part made it better for me :P

    Uh, are you kidding me?
    The Pacific was awful.
Basically, its 3 stories squashed into 10 eisodes 1 hour long each. What a garbled mess it was. Besides having way too much drama, by the end of the series there were so many characters that you have no idea who is who.

Band of Brothers is so much better, where you actually make a connection with the characters.
