Thread: Admitting Defeat First

    Default Admitting Defeat First

    Hey...

It has came to my attention that loads of people are just leaving the game and letting the AI taking over, which means you have to round up units just to get a real victory and not unresolved when you've clearly won. It's very annoying and all you have to do to solve it is to press admit defeat before leaving a game. This would be much appreciated

unfortunately some people are just too proud or arrogant to do this.

There are also players who demand their oponents to admitt defeat, even though their opponets still have a good number of archers remaining, even after they were defeated by the the left over archers they will call them lame.

Unfortunately, that is the poor gamesmanship of the lobby players today.

Well it tends to be the newer players that don't admit defeat I find, quite possibly since they don't know that they should before leaving. I haven't seen it get any worse though, it doesn't happen a lot to me, but a bit.

Regarding the archers, it depends on how many archers are left over, I've seen people with very small numbers left that they just leave to skirmish all over the field, with no chance of victory. That kind of behaviour I guess leads people to demand they admit defeat, even if significant numbers remain. Personally, I've quite often been on the other side, since I quite like archers, so I've been surrounding and picking off residual enemies with my archers, which is always fun. I though always admit if I haven't a chance.

I don't think it's much to do with poor gamesmanship though. I always find the game and the people who play are never any where near as bad as they get portrayed in these kind of forums.

Newer Players may not know that button is there, and some are just stupid to do it..

ello mate. It does seem that people here do love to hate RTW and will jump at the chance, any chance to slate any aspect of it. sad really

There has always been some sort of problem but quitting a game was always the worst IIRC

Erm, actually I'm more on the way of fanboy than love to hate Wish. I'm one of the few that doesn't carwe about AI or naval warfare (reasons - too far off the topic). It's jsut annoying, and this isnt rtw im moaning about but an increasing trait of the community.

Except it's not an increasing trait of the community, just something that's always happened, it's getting rarer if anything... In the earlier days of Rome, it was much more likely against randoms than it is now.

    I see

I must have just had a few unlucky pairing at the time of posting. A 'unlucky streak' perhaps. I have now found that you are correct when saying it's quite possibly getting rarer. Apologies.

I don't find this as a problem, though to be honest. When they don't admit defeat, I get to kill more men, unless of course they are hosting..

Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."
