Thessalian cavalry recruitment?

Playing as Makedon, and I've got a nice empire coming together, but I don't seem to be able to recruit horse.
If I'm not dumb (which is always possible) I ought to be able to build hippeis thessalikoi in my level 3 (I think... should take more notes before I whine on forum) MIC in Pella or Demetrias -- that seems to be what I get from the right-click info screen for my barracks. They both have level I govt types.

So my question is: am I missing something to build them? is this part of the 'beta' aspect of the mod, they're not working yet, I need to quit whining (that's a perfectly valid answer)? or am I just stupid? Or d) all of the above?

You should have them from 3 MIC. Especially if MIC says so (I'm not sure about Pella, but you should have them in Demetrias). Only other thing is govt and if you have it ok there should be option to build them.
