The technique you use with the map.rwm.

In truth, if all files are there and updated to 0.81, then it will self generate an accurate map.rwm.

so...thats why I want to know the exact size in KBites of a totally complete and right map.rwm...so I'll see if my map.rwm is right...If it's right then theres no files lacking and the game is all updated to 0.81...so I can relax and play it without any concerns...

Well, 080 and 081 are nearly the same size. And if there is a file missing, RTW will probably crash on the intial load screen. So there is no way of knowing. If all other features of 081 are there, then the map features are there too.

    my map.rwm

    size: 7,10 MB (7.452.171 bytes) 7452171/1024 = 7277,5 KB

size on disk: 7,10 MB (7.454.720 bytes) = 7280 KB

Just installed EB 0.8.1 full installation in a clean brand new installation of rome 1.5 version...deleted the map.rwm as recomended so it would recreate itself:
"9. Go to "\Rome - Total War\EB\Data\world\maps\base" and delete the file map.rwm. This is to make sure EB uses the latest map changes."
I thought that you only have to do the delete map thingy, if you install the EB patch v0.8.1 over v0.8? Does it also apply to the full install?

I didn't delete any maps with my full install, and I have the new map.

deleted it just to feel safe...

    Oleo and mine map.rwm size:

    size: 7,10 MB (7.452.171 bytes) 7452171/1024 = 7277,5 KB

size on disk: 7,10 MB (7.454.720 bytes) = 7280 KB

if you compare your EB folder map.rwm size to these ones and it's equal than everything is ok I think...

Every time you install any EB, it is safe to go there and check to see if a map.rwm needs to be deleted.

Whether you installed 0.81 patch or the 0.81 full installer, the thing that matter is whether you installed it ontop of .080. If there was 0.80, delete the file. If there was only RTW vanilla before installing, you don't need to.
