Let me look at the savegame and the victory conditions for Denmark first. I have never played the Teutonic campaign because I have become way too addicted to the Crusade one. So I am starting from scratch today.

Then, the new Danish chancellor will decide whether it is in the best interests of the mighty Danish Empire to have an alliance.

it will probably be a yes though. ^_^

Are the passwords case sensitive? I tried to put Gibson's password into the savegame but it tells me it is incorrect.

Alright, I just did my Crusade turn so now I'll retry this one with a space in the password.

Sorry guys, no luck. I tried all different permutations of Gib's password with caps and spaces. I'll PM him and ask him for the exact spelling of the password.

    Alright guys,

Gibson gave me three more possibilities for his password. None worked. And I tried different versions with regards to capitalization, spacing, and symbols.

So, I have PM'd him again and asked if he can remember which he used. He uses many passwords for these games and he is not sure which one he used on this particular campaign. I will keep all of you updated with regards to what he tells me.

We're still on turn 2, so maybe we could start anew if necessary...

    Would rather not

Well if Gibson can not remember his password, then the game is effectively dead in the water.

I have thought up some rules that a GM might want to consider when starting up a Kingdoms hotseat campaign:

1.) Before the GM even sets up the first savegame, he should demand everyone's password to be given to him in private.

2.) After turn one, he should test all of the passwords while taking care to not look at anyone elses save game.

3.) If a password does not match, he should PM the person and demand the new password.

4.) If he can not get a password for every faction, he should restart the game. Since he has his own password, he can simply withhold it which would effectively kill the initial game. As GM, he has that right.

It will only be on its first turn so it shouldn't be too big a deal to start over. I know this sounds a little harsh but I think we might want to consider it. Because we have come close to having both Kingdoms hotseat games die because the GM could not get access to the passwords he needs.

We need players who will commit to the game. If real life intervenes, then we need to be able to replace that player. Because I think we would all have more fun if the games could be kept running at a brisk pace. Playing one turn should not take too long if your auto-resolving every battle. We have the Teutonic Campaign on the verge of death simply because a player can not remember his password. And we had the Crusade Campaign stalled for over 3 weeks simply because a player dropped totally out of contact.

So, the GM who runs these games needs to have every single password to every faction. My proposal is harsh but it would ensure that a game would not be derailed all because of one player.

Well, seeing as this game is on the verge of death, that may be moot. If Gibson can not remember his password, this game is dead simply because we can not move past his turn.

Though it would be a good rule for whatever new game is started.

Here is the latest situation. Gibson has been working with me on trying to figure out his password. He has sent me 13 passwords today alone to try. That is a total of 17 passwords. None have worked. As have no variations. I have sent all of them to EF in case he wants to try them out.

If Gibson can not remember his password, we need to start over since we can not advance beyond the Dane's turn.

If you can't remember, you can't remember. This just illustrates why the GM needs every single password and also needs to verify them after turn one is finished. That way, we can avoid these situations.

And gib, you are soooo not like Al so don't worry about it. ^_^

Husar has just said he won't be in on a new one so that leaves the Teutonic Order open. If Stig continues his policy of boycotting games that I am in, that opens up the Lithuanians as well.

Since gibson can not seem to remember his password, we should seriously consider starting over. *nudges EF* ^_^

alright we'll start afresh, I'll wipe the player list as I am not at all sure how many people are playing now, not all of the factions need to be filled anyway. PM your passwords and post here if you want to join.

I'll keep the Danes. Are you keeping HRE EF?

To everyone else, make sure you don't use a password you actually care about and use for other things. Don't use the same one you use for the .org or your email.

Novogrod possibly but I don't know if Pevergreen would want that back.

Lithuania maybe for while they are a different religion they would both fear the Teutonic Order.

Denmark maybe but I have it.

HRE might not be a good Polish ally. HRE and Teutonic might be tight since they have the same roots. And HRE might want Polish lands.

Teutonic Order might be bad for same reasons as HRE

Mongols would probably not be good accept as "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of deal.

Keep in mind that players can make up whatever alliances they want so these are just my guesses based on my knowledge of the game and history.
