Alright, I have set up an "admin accessible" hotseat game with Tosa's very very patient advice. Crusade-1-1 is set up but I won't upload it until people have some time to set up some diplomacy. Probably 20 or so hours from now.

Also I want to allow time for people to voice objections to me setting up an admin game. What an admin game means is, I modded a file to allow me to open up the console in the save game. That allows me to do things with passwords and factions in case someone leaves. Hopefully I will never have to use it but life happens sometimes.

I will inform the players in here if I ever open up the console. I have done it twice so far to test it. I did it once, then saved the game, closed the program, opened the program, loaded the save, and tested it again. I tested it by simply using the admin login and then logging off.

The only password I need is Tristan's. I will still test all passwords after turn one. It's not that I don't trust anyone, but I want to prevent a "gibson" style error.

    Game is H/H.

    Battles are autoresolved.

Diplomacy will be agreed to OOC first.

If you do something to a player that he would know about in a SP game, a private OOC pm to him would be appreciated.

If it is something where you want it secret, like a successful assassination or sabotage, then you can tell me, and I will send them a vague PM before their next turn to hide your identity.

If your going to take more than 48 hours to play your turn, please let me know by PM or in this thread beforehand. I will be a lot more sympathetic if I learn about things beforehand.

If I can not reach you for a week, and you did not inform me, then I will consider replacing you.

I hope for a fun and fast-paced game. I've come to know all 4 of you lately and I anticipate a good time.

    *edit*

I'll probably rename the savegame before I upload it to make it look more different than the first crusade saves. Right now the only difference is this one has no "s" in crusade where the old ones were "crusades".

Thanks for setting that up Tristan. It's a good way for outside spectators to keep up with our campaign if they wish.

Alright, I have all passwords. I will upload the save in a couple of hours when I get back home. It will be EF's turn. Turns will go in the order that they did last time. Top page has the order list. We'll keep EF's good system regarding save-game naming.

Alright, I got the save up earlier than I thought. But please note the naming convention. There is no last "s" in "Crusade". This keeps it different than the previous game's saves which were named "Crusades" with an "s" at the end. If we stick to naming the saves "Crusade", then we should be fine. If anyone feels that it is too close to the last name, feel free to change it. Otherwise, EF will name his save: Crusade-1-2 and so on.

    Game on!

    Hello,

The old Crusades savegames of the previous hotseat are moved to a backup directory to avoid confusion.

    Thank you! :D

If the "hotseat" idea takes off, we might want to consider a master list of save names. That way, when people make a new game, they can look at the list of save names that have been used. That might minimize "doubling up" of names which the uploader won't support as far as I know.

Ok, I got a PM regarding the question of "reloading the save". The question was innocent but it regards an issue I feel very strongly about. So strongly in fact, that I did not even think about making a rule for it. While I can not speak for EF in the Teutonic game, I will state this very clear in here.

When you have the save, and play your turn, you should deal with what ever happens. You should not reload the save and play for a better result. Such a thing A.) could really bog the game down if players keep playing the same turn for hours trying to achieve perfect results and B.) becomes "campy".

I have no way to really check or enforce this so we are all on the "honor system". But, the question was asked so I will make my opinion on the matter very clear.

If I screw up and kill my faction, I'll just take it and move on. Losing because of risky moves is part of the game.

Crusade-1-5 is being uploaded right now.
I do have a small bug to report. The first time I hit end turn, and the Egyptian password request came up, I wasn't able to save the game. When I hit Escape, nothing happened.

Luckily I had saved near the end of my turn to give some thought to my final moves. I tried it from there, did it again, and it worked fine.

    Doug's turn now.

With all five of us being people that go through their turns fairly quickly (in both pbms) we'll catch up to where the old one ended in no time.

I'm amused that the KotR veterans can not break the habit of announcing that they have taken the save.

I also have to fight the urge to announce it. Econ should be proud. He's trained us well..

I had the habit of doing it also... Just to let people know...

I've seen you do that a lot in KOTR and it seemed sensible due to the large number of players involved and there being only one save for all of you...

I find it nice nevertheless to let others know that you are dealing with things... It helps me wait more patiently for my own turn to come again...

    Oh I wasn't complaining. Just amused. ^_^

Announcing that you finally have the save is certainly an informative and courteous act. I don't think it's absolutely required since no one else could take the save. But it is nice that we do it.

KotR is infecting our lives. We will be assimilated...
