EDIT:
my question lost its importance.

I am also having the "select item from list" problem. It is quite irksome, as I'm certain I'm installing everything in the correct order, and that there is no anti-virus software preventing copying from occurring. Here is the text from the setup window. Additionally, it is not the fact that the current installation is in Program Files: I have tried it in other locations as well with the same result. I would really appreciate any help you can give, as I'm really fond of EB and incorporating the fixes in this minimod would just be fantastic.
Thanks

HELP PLEASE!
some days ago i transferred the directory EB-BI from one HD to another HD (its name is D:\Rome total war-EB)
but then, when i started it it seems to have lost the mod BI.
I explain:
the introducing video is the original of RTW (it begins with carthaginian infantry marching....)
the units like hastati and principes don't have the shield_wall ability.
moreover, when i start it, the PC gives me this advice:
failed to copy the file 'D:\Rome - Total War-EB\EB\sp game edu backup\map.rwm' to ' rome- total war-EB\EB\data\world\maps\base\map.rwm' error 2: impossible to find the specified file (this last sentence is in italian).
what to do? if i reinstall B-BI mod, it will be save-game compatible? will it work?
desperate....

Hello Ferromancer.
I just get excited with the idea of play EB with BI engine. Then I tried and failed. I used the installer that you provide. I was able to enter the menus of EB after the Huns video of BI, and so on... But when I tried to create a new campaign, or a custom battle, I was sent back to the menus and nothing happens.
Well, I checked and my BI was version 1.4. And I read in some place that the EB for BI installer needs BI patch 1.6. So I uninstalled everything and started again from the begining.
Before continue, here's a quick description of my pc:
I use XP, and the machine is a Pentium IV 2.2GB, Motherboard Asus, 2GB Ram, A suficient video card (cant remember which now, and Im not in my computer) and suficient disk space. I'm pretty sure of that cause I've played Rome TW (1.5) and Barbarian Invasion (didnt had notice the version) for over a year and everything works well. I beggin to play Alexander to, but unistalled due to free some disk space to other things..
Now I have tried many combinations of installation and just cant update BI to 1.6. Every time I try to apply the patch (both 1.5 or 1.6, whatever...) I receive a message that "this patch only updates from 1.3 to 1.5" and gives me an adress to download the 1.3 patch. And when I go to options in BI, the version number displayed is 1.4.
I tried:
- RTW 1.0 > 1.1 > 1.2 > 1.3 > 1.5 > BI > and the 1.6 cannot be installed
- RTW 1.0 > 1.1 > 1.2 > 1.3 > BI > and either 1.5 or 1.6 cannot be installed
- RTW 1.0 > 1.3 > BI > and the same again
- RTW 1.0 > BI > and the same again
- I even try to install 1.3 and 1.5 after the BI but it became a mess..
In time, I use cracks, but in all times I didnt cracked the game. I was expecting patch and install everything first.
Well, there's pretty much nothing left to do now according to what I know about, so... please, Help Me!!!
Thanks!!!
Reform problem?
I'm playing as romans and it's 241 BC, I already hold Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia, Lilibeo, Messana and Syracuse but nothing happens!
Should I wait more? The reforms randomly takes places in the next seasons?
The EB Faq says:
-At least year 242
-Hold 2 of these cities (Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia)
-Hold 2 of these cities (Lilibeo, Messana, Syracuse)
This had being change?
The reform finally happened.
i beg again for help here.
i installed EB-BI but it requests me the map.rwm file.
and when i run it, the demo is the old one (with the carthaginians marching...) and the units still don't have the BI abilities.
i reinstalled this submod several times (i also reinstalled completely new RTW-EB), but still does not work.
what to do?
did anybody experience the same situation? already answered?
is somewhere available another map.rwm file to paste?
Nec sine Marsis nec contra Marsos triumphari posse

so, begging for help again.
i installed EB-BI,
and when i run it, it says that it failed to copy the map.rwm file. into the folder (EB/data/world/maps/... and sp game backup) the map.rwm does not exist, there is only the file 'eb before BI map.rwm'
and when i run it, the demo is the old RTW one (with the carthaginians marching...) and the units still don't have the BI abilities.
i reinstalled this submod several times (i also reinstalled completely new RTW-EB), but still does not work.
what to do?
did anybody face this before?
where to get this map.rwm file? if i simply paste it, could it work?

does anybody know how to get the goidilic tank units to work with this mod? They work with regular EB, but not this one.
Can any one tell me if BI with EB AI retrains units?, iv kept a close watch and im sure iv seen it retrain

[QUOTE=Mediolanicus;2481771]Welcome to the forums.
No, it's EB 1.2 that disables them. Do a forum search, there are a lot of threads about those units.
I know how to get them to work, but they don't work with this mod. It has something to do I think with the world map. Give it a try, tell me what you think?
I want to, but I can't since my computer with EB stopped working.
On the top of my head, some possible causes.
1. You are changing Imperial_campaign files while you should be changing Barbarian_invasion files.
2. You have Vista or 7 and installed in Program Files
3. deleting map.rwm?
4. I don't know if those changes are save game compatible.

I write as short as it's possible:
installed rome gold with bi 1.6
installed eb 1.1 and 1.2
installed the eb for bi to c/program files/the creative assembly/rome total war
tried to start up a new game, saw the bi intro when start up eb
ingame, no way to rename cities and no shield wall abilities for hoplites
what went wrong?
tried it around 10 times and no more brain to do it another time on my own
if someone's could help me ;o?
best regards, ave
nobody? >_>
Well I have the "please select an item from the list" problem myself. I am using the steam gold edition of RTW. I can run the BI... but cant get capaign to play and the historical battles crash the game. i tried following the installer, but it is too fastfor my eye to catch anything. all i see is like
Extracting...
Lengthy path to my rome directory
I there a way to force installer to generate log file?
when i try to rrun preferences i have them working ok, but saving and exiting results in
cant open file EB:\preferences\preferences.txt (error 2:cant find a file)
my EB folder is 1.90GB atm, so i suppose most files are there.

When I install, i get an error message.
Script Error in eb/data/export_descr_unit.txt at line 10227, column 27.
Could not find officer battle model for unit type 'roman infantry first legionary cohort i.'
Anyone have any idea? I installed EB 1.1 then patch 1.2 , then the mini mod pack, then this pack to make EB playable with Barbarian Invasion.
Hello everybody. It's been a while since I've had any updates, but I have an important announcement about those who have had trouble using my installer.
If you are using windows 7 or windows Vista, my installer will not work properly if Rome Total War is installed in the program files directory. Bill Gates and company create a new security paradigm for windows, that requires special permissions to modify files in the program files directory. Any files modified without special privileges are copied to a separate directory somewhere in lalaland in the users directory. My installer doesn't know about the other directory, so a bunch of files are never found.
There is a workaround at the moment, and that's to follow the advice of the creators of EB, DO NOT INSTALL to the program files folder. Instead install it to your c:\users\yourusername or another easily-remembered directory like c:\games\RTW. My installer with then function normally, since the folders would be set with the proper permissions.
A more permanent workaround could either be a simple fix, or would require a rewrite of the installer. I would need to do more research on the matter.

I'm currently playing around with some code that will not only warn you if you've installed to Program Files on Vista, but will also check to see if you have v1.6 if BI. It's ready to deploy but my website has the flu. Once customer support fixes my problem I'll have the new version ready for you.
Edit: New version of the installer is ready, first post will be updated shortly.

Hey all,
I 've got a question (surprise surprise..)
I have already installed this mod on EB1.1, but now I want to start a 1.2 campaign (with BI.exe ofc.) without throwing away my 1.1 version of the game. So, I copied a clean RTW-Bi folder, installed EB in it and upgraded it to 1.2, did the fixes and tried installing EB for BI. First it said that, as I run Vista, I shouldn't have installed my RTW in C:/ Program Files. Because I never install games there, I assumed it was some sort of mistake, and running the installer in xp-compatibilty mode fixed that. I started it again, but this time it told me I had already installed EB with BI - which is ofcourse true. Now the question is: isn't it possible to install in twice,, in 2 different folders? I don't even consider playing EB without the Bi.exe (wel.. neh), so a little help would be appreciated :).
Imperare sibi maximvm imperivm est
Which directory did you try to install it to? This might be a bug in the installer, and will be glad to fix it.
To answer your second question, only one instance of EB with BI can exist at the same time (per user I believe). Of course, you could always copy a successful installation of EB with BI manually and create your own shortcut, but I won't make any guarantee that it will work.

I just tried to install it to where my EB1.2 is installed: E/games/EB1.2 bla bla. But that's not the problem.. If I click the installer, it asks me for Vista permission, and then it says I can't install it twice (if I run it on xp compatibility mode) or that I can't install it to C/program files (which is kinda odd because I only clicked the installer, I didn't pick any folder or anything) if I run it without any compatibility modes. So if I want to play EB1.2 with BI.exe, I should remove the BI.exe installation (your file I mean) from 1.1? I'm also experiencing other problems concerning the two installs, such as a not working preferences program etc., but I used to play 1.0 and 1.1 simultaneously too, so I'm pretty sure I can get it to work.
Imperare sibi maximvm imperivm est
Okay I think I know what's going on, it's checking for Vista too early in the install process, and since Program Files is the default directory, it will always nag in Vista. I have to find a better place to put it.
EDIT: I've put in a fix. It should give you a change to put in a better directory. Please try again to see if it's less naggy.

Wow thank you man! It works now, it seems. At least, I can start both 1.1 and 1.2 on Bi.exe, being shown the Bi intro movie, and being able to acces my saved games. I will test it later but I don't expect any problems to occur. Thank you very much!

Just tested the link, works fine. Server could have been lagged, so please try again.
