Wrote script to check descr_names because ~14K entries are a bit much to do by hand, and fixed the typos it flagged up.

Now scripting Lugia's FL mechanics: no family-tree, 1 chieftain/tribe, 6 tribes, only chieftains gain Authority to become next FL. ~JMRC
This is so awesome! Finally tribal society ^^
Lugiones with the other war leaders traits mentioned in the preview are going to be quite interesting...

Wonder if we should expect Lugio's faction leader mechanics apply to other existing barbarian factions as well?

Scripting for Taksashila. It will be tough to declare independence from Mauryan Empire. Armies will be sent against Gandhara & Sagala. ~JMRC

Caste system has great impact in the assignment of governmental and military postings. Still, a freeman can aspire to be the Maharaja. ~JMRC

The scripted armies keep moving relentlessly toward Taksashila and Sagala and will besiege them. Elephants, chariots, longbowmen, etc. ~JMRC
I've heard that you need to pay a tribute fee to the Mauryan Empire, which I can imagine rejecting it will be steps towards independence. However my question is, by continually paying this tribute, aside from stopping a gigantic scripted army coming into your lands, is there any positives to staying 'dependent'? ie. by continually paying tribute will the Mauryan Empire provide extra troops in the recruitment pools or trade bonuses or lower upkeep costs?

like all the empires in history it will provide you peace and protection mostly from the empires own armies as for the rest you got peace that army standing at your castle wall are bandits and a mob not an army so you best sort them out or if the emperor as to come up the northern road he might bring a new arse to sit on your castle ...

one wo won´t bother him so much with his whining

so takashila will be no diferent from all the protectorates that lived under the shadow or satrapies of the great empires before or after it you pay a buttload in taxs to be left hanging when you need the most unleass you say you won´t pay until help arrives and when it does it´s always 50/50 that after the warchief/emperor/king left there will be a new man sitting in the chair one who knows it´s best not to bother the emperor with unpleasent news such as 50.000 scythians have croosses the mountains or 100.000 americans have landed in normandy

I think this is an important feature regarding Taksashila's gameplay and it's not meant to be a "secret thing" (if it was... sorry Mithridates...). The scripting behind the Mauryan Emperor as suzerain of the Raja of Taksashila is meant to reduce the capability of the player to blitzkrieg out of the initial area for a reasonable amount of time. The tribute is very heavy and the conquered settlements can only build the minimum levels. So, it's going to be interesting to see only the very patient players putting forth a strategy to enable them to balance the finances and building a large army before the gates of Maurya open up against him.

The advantages of the protectorate are very high indeed and the player may use them wisely: if some faction declares war on Taksashila, the emperor will send a small contigent of troops (led by a captain, of course) to help the Raja.

Indeed! The generals gain points based in their exploits on the battlefield (great battle victories, conquered settlements, etc) and those ChieftainPoints will allow them to gain ranks as war leaders, and ultimately become the chieftain of their tribe (this ethnicity is defined when the character shows up in the game). The player will decide if he wants to actively "help" a certain general to become chieftain or to act dispassionately and simply allow luck and skill to decide the next chieftain of each tribe.

oh, don't be so worried: the other dude obviously grew a new head: otherwise he wouldn't have typed that Mithridates caused his head to explode.

though yeah, he does need to clean the mess.
