Yea, this is one of those things the tutorial in Rome: Total War didn't teach you. In fact, I didn't know that if you right click and drag, it's easier to deploy troops until after a while of playing EB. Stupid tutorial
Ahem control-left-click is basic computer function. Get with the times! You get the same effect if you do this in "my document." I learned this when trying to organize my porn collection back in the days when computer was exclusively made for 'em.

control plus right click is switch to secondary weapon.
