It was at 9 AM on October fourteenth, AD 1066, that an ambitious Duke from Normandy took his land-hungry forces and hurled them against arguably the best warriors in Western Europe - the feared English Housecarls of Harold Godwinson, King of England...
The result of that battle is well known. It signalled the demise of the Anglo-Danish rule over England and the beginning of the Norman yoke that was to be borne by many Englishmen for many generations....
