Default Forts - How many? What limitations? Where possible?

    Hi all,

having a cracking game as Britain in 1785, and i have about five or six forts.

and yet i find i am now unable to build any more.

is this because of where i am trying to build them?
or because there is a maximum number of forts?
    or some other random reason?

    cheers.

Forts are weird. I have found I couldn't build them too but it seems they have to be built on or near a border of a region you do not control. You need a General in the stack and infantry. It would also seem that you need an amount of space between them.

The exact mechanics of where or why they are allowed to be built are beyond me. I don’t however, think that the upward limit for allowable builds is that low.

    cheers. :(

the proximity to other forts and borders is interesting, and depressing.
