yoi, the Euro factions could made the M2 southern european portaits. Their diplomats will use RTW greek diplomat portaits, and their spy/assassins got Roman rogue portaits.

In the other hands, I think the Melayu FM could use M2 middle eastern merchants and diplomat portaits (note : melayu FM got M2 middle eastern portaits of merchants and diplomats - just need to get them some destar and kain, while some could still use their turban). The diplomats and rogues will use eastern FM without helmets (Jebivjetar-ish portaits made wearing destar).

The Java-Sundanese FM will use modified eastern FM portaits, as well as several Armoured M2 middle eastern portaits, we'll got them with both helmets and not, but we could add some proper headgear too (imagine Jebivjetar portait wearing Blangkon, or Iket), the rogues and diplomats will be the same with Melayu.

Hmm, I also think its weird... just not matching the faces of Nusantara people. Well, maybe some modification like adding mustache, sideburns, beard or goatee can improved it...maybe I can try other Eastern FM, or other culture portrait, like Greek one...(well, Skullheadhq....you are the candidate for full transformation....)....

If it is not work, then we have to make announcement for face database, like EB II. or hosting a reality TV program..."Searching for models....." (these 2 not gonna happen...)

No no no... not peci or kopiah... that's commoner headgear at that time...even commoner used destar or tanjak made from low and medium quality fabric. Peci and kopiah just trial and error and experimenting with photoshop....

Mr. Gaius only knew destar and tanjak from image of Sultan Hasanuddin. Even it was destar / tanjak, the headgear is unique.... it is not like Malay Sultan destar or Tanjak.

Even Acheh headgear also unique. It it like peci wrapped with colorful serban....

blankon used by commoner and some abdi dalem, its okay for agent but for FM, its little bit odd. king have crown right?

also I think skin tone is enough. noble usually got lighter skin.

well, Aceh sultan used something like sarik. maybe, its a fez wrapped with turban. usually, used by sufi.

    sarik

Bugis people worn their "destar" in the side.

Now i must made a clear point about this. Melaka, Aceh, Palembang, Sriwijaya, will got melayu culture. Pajajaran, Bintara, Majapahit, will got Jawi culture (ancient javanese, not to be confused with jawa). And each culture will share a group of portaits. Means melaka and sriwijaya will have the same set of portaits, it was bi hardcoded.

We already realized that culture slots are limited in RTW engines, that's the issue and problem happened in all mods, and culture slots are really precious for further expansion of the mod... well, we just have not to make Malay-culture FM using Islamic Serban, and make them wearing mainly destar, tanjak and a few use mahkota, to avoid what-the-hell-Hindu FM-wearing-serban issue.... the serban-wearer are Islamic Scholar, Kadi, or Maulana as ancillaries...

umm... not really. it was Sikh who wear turban(dastar).

some kind of religious duties. and Rajput (who claimed as Indo-Saka descendant) also wear turban.

and Pheta worn by Maratha warrior and during ceremonial occasion

but not in Indonesia. Indonesian Hindu FM more commonly wear Siger, Sumping, Topknot hair, Crown, traditional Headgear. even muslim, if not Arab descendant barely wear Turban
