If someone of the opposite gender in your class is going to suffer a personal loss and you find them crying in the classroom before class, would it be creepy to go over there and comfort them or no?

AKWC, depends on your relationship to that person and your intent. If you have some sort of acquaintance and she has never caught you trying to get a sniff of her sports bra, then you should be fine. It's perfectly natural to want to comfort someone in distress. Especially if she's a hottie.
Comfort her only with no other intentions than to console. Take it from there. Hitting on her while she is upset would seem somewhat insensitive.
Silence is beautiful
Very good. Points you score after your encounter, in my opinion, would be acquired as you leave her alone to mourn in peace.Extacly what I am trying to do. Don't get me wrong, I would be legitmatelly sorry if her father dies, I would, but I'm trying to kill 2 birds with one stone here. Show my respect + score points. Proably only time I'll get to do it sadly.
Silence is beautiful
This must be one of the most depressing threads I've read in a while. Save a few exceptions, what dissapointments all around.
Blegh.
If you are trying to score points you aren't really being nice.
LOL. Thaaaaanks, bro, I had to take the time of wiping my spittle off the computer screen.
Only comfort her, yes. Tell her that she doesn't have to go to class, and that you're willing to photocopy your notes for her (make sure you write clearly during class). This means she has to talk to you next time, whereupon you will hand her the notes, explain some things about them, and tell her to holla at ya if she has any questions or concerns about it. This will put you on speaking terms, and you can actually talk or sit by her throughout the remaining semester. Sometime in, say "Heeeey, I'm gonna grab some coffee before my next class, you're welcome to come if you'd like."
Don't think of her as a primary source of fun, though. You're tryna be a good person, and at most: just keep her in your back pocket for a while, nothing too soon, you need to give her time, right?

First of all: be honest with yourself.
If getting into her pants is what you're really after, then leave her alone. Once it becomes obvious to her that you don't give a about her situation but are only there to try to seduce her, things will probably get far worse, for both of you.
If you truly feel sorry for her, then comfort her, but with no other intentions than that: helping her to get through a difficult emotional time.

If you don't know the girl well enough (e.g. you hardly speak to each other), yes it's going to be awkward for her if you try to comfort her. My advice is to leave her be, because if a girl isn't in to you, no amount of comforting will change that.

Maybe Antiwar is just a decent guy, why do you guys assume he's into her
Just leave her alone, unless you are already good friends with her. Otherwise you will just come across as creepy.

I say go for it man.
If her dad just died that means she has a male vaccum in her life that needs to be filled and thus will be more willing to intercourse with you.
Just make sure you say you love her and will always be there for her
then dump her

Epic humor post right there ladies and gentlemen.
Yeah, what he said.
Never got slapped before, but maybe that might open my eyes a bit!
Hmmmm good point.
+1 for you comrade.
If you care about her, just say some nice words and give her some encouragement, then walk off. Unless she comes to you, do not go up and hug her, start caressing her, licking tears from her cheek.
