Kagemusha was taken prisoner of the brave cavalry from Rhode Island. He asked me to send order to all his soldiers to end the rebellion and to join the glorious Army of Rhodes Island!

Something may have come up that slowed him down.

    TURN 5:

This turn saw the armies in the East take little action as they licked their wounds. However, one major battle in the East did happen; The advanced elements of the Army of Pennsylvania, struggling to get out of Washington as they were under bombardment from Confederate positions on Arlington Heights, met the Confederate Army of North Carolina and the Confederate Maryland Corps in battle, in the vicinity of one of the 5 Confederate Redoubts used in the Siege of Washington; the Lee Redoubt. The Confederate troops got there first, quickly getting artillery on the Redoubt to use for later, looking over the several small villages below, where later that day, the bloody act would once again resume...

    Battle of the Lee Redoubt:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Battle of the Lee Redoubt:
USA: I, II, III, V, and VII Corps, Reserve DIvision, Army of Pennsylvania(66,709 Men)
    II Division, Maryland Corps(13,800 Men)

    CSA: Maryland Corps(36,009 Men)
    Army of North Carolina(41,844 Men)

    Skirmish at South Hill:
USA: 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigades, I Corps, Army of Pennsylvania(5,225 Men)
CSA: II Division, Conf. Maryland Corps(12,000 Men)

    Casualties and Losses:
    USA: 420 Killed, 839 Wounded, 1,000 Captured
    CSA: 582 Killed, 1,164 Wounded

Result: Two brigades of the I Corps attempted to hold off over twice their number of Confederates. The Confederates took heavy loss, but eventually beat the Federals back.

    Attack on St. Lo Township:
USA: II Corps and 65th Infantry Brigade, Army of Pennsylvania(17,336 Men)
CSA: I Corps and 99th Infantry Brigade, Army of North Carolina(14,310 Men)

    Casualties and Losses:
    USA: 808 Killed, 1,617 Wounded
    CSA: 776 Killed, 1,551 Wounded

Result: Federal forces entrenched themselves around the St. Lo Township, a small community that has fewer people than the average battalion. The Confederates attacked and were repulsed by fierce fighting, but at a heavy cost for the Federals.

    Action at the Bloody Lane:
USA: III and IV Corps, 3rd Infantry Brigade, Army of Pennsylvania(32,637 Men)
CSA: III Corps, Army of North Carolina, I Division, Conf. Maryland Corps(22,957)

    Casualties and Losses:
    USA: 1,334 Killed, 2,679 Wounded
    CSA: 1,266 Killed, 2,531 Wounded, 2,000 Captured

Result: Outnumbered, but brave, Confederate forces attacked across the field under withering fire from the Federals. They managed to put up a fierce fight and at one point even mount a bayonet charge. At first, it was successful, but then, two Federal Brigades came up in support, sweeping the Confederates back across the field, and capturing 2,000 of them.

    The Battle of Marylanders:
USA: II Division, Fed. Maryland Corps(13,800 Men, 60 Guns)
CSA: III Division, Conf. Maryland Corps(9,000 Men)

    Casualties and Losses:
USA: 559 Infantry Killed, 1,119 Infantry Wounded
266 Artillerymen Killed, 9 Guns Spiked(this means that the barrel or powderhole was plugged) or Destroyed
    CSA: 640 Killed, 1,280 Wounded

Result: The III Division of the Confederate Maryland Corps was ordered to attack it's own bretheren, the II Division of the Federal Maryland Corps. The two forces of Marylanders locked horns and fought bravely, both sides fighting to a stalemate. The Confederates fell back in the end, though, so by default, it was a Federal victory.

    Confederate advance along Confederate Left:
USA: 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigades + Cavalry Corps, Army of Pennsylvania(12,168 Men)
CSA: II Division, Conf. Maryland Corps(11,418 Men)

    Casualties and Losses:
USA: 437 Cavalry Killed, 873 Cavalry Wounded
177 Infantry Killed, 355 Infantry Wounded

    CSA: 629 Killed, 1,258 WOunded, 2,000 Captured

    Result: Confederate Infantry, trying their luck, advanced along their left flank, where earlier, two Federal Infantry brigades broke and ran;
However, the Confederate advance runs smack dab into over 9,300 Federal Cavalrymen, as well as the two reformed Infantry brigades. The Confederates
put up a fight, but eventually turn tail and run; The cavalry ride into them, killing many, and taking many more prisoners.

    Total Casualties:

Army of Pennsylvania: 2,740 Infantry Killed, 5,481 Infantry Wounded, 1,000 Captured, 437 Cavalry Killed, 873 Cavalry Wounded
Fed. Maryland Corps: 559 Infantry Killed, 1,119 Infantry Wounded, 266 Artillerymen Killed, 9 Guns Spiked

    Total: 4,002 Killed, 7,472 Wounded, 1,000 Captured

Army of North Carolina: 1,409 Killed, 3,370 Wounded, 1,000 Captured
Maryland Corps: 2,484 Killed, 4,968 Wounded, 3,000 Captured

    Total: 3,893 Killed, 8,338 Wounded, 4,000 Captured

Result: Stalemate, Confederates take redoubt but lose many men, Confederate forces unable to continue on

Both sides fail to accomplish their goals; the Federals fail in that they were to attack Baltimore, and the Confederates were trying to fight their way back into the Entrenchments around Washington to tighten the noose once more. Meanwhile, somewhat farther north, the 6th Corps, Army of New York was dispatched to assist the Army of Pennsylvania in besieging Baltimore; However, they suddenly find themselves confronted with 2 Confederate Corps near Abingdon, Maryland.

    Battle of Abingdon:

With both sides making little progress, it appears that a War of Attrition may set in if neither side takes the initiative...still, this gives the Union a great advantage...

Meanwhile, in the West; The desperate Army of Rhode Island, surrounded either by mountains or Confederate troops, has taken a gamble and attacked the Confederate Army of Tennessee.

    OP Army Numbers updated.

Btw guys, there were several recruitment requests which I could not allow because they would put you over the maximum troop count for your armies. I recruited only as much as is allowed by the rules.

It is sort of my fault.

My net box died and with Easter it took over a week to get up on line again.

Sorry for the wait guys, Centurion is still having problems with his Wifi and I haven't heard from Kage since before turn 5, though since he (IIRC) was a very high up member of the board and a friend of Tosa, I don't blame his absence.
