    Default Favorite Campaign or Faction

    Favorite Campaign or Faction?

I think I like the Peninsular Campaign as the British best.

    What is your take?

I have liberated Ireland and Scotland several times, but I never recall getting round to Wales.

Do you know if it can be liberated or is for ever in the power of whoever holds England?

France and Prussia. I just love the whole unit variety and the constant fighting, it's great fun.

Austria for the difficulty. I'm still trying to wrap my heads around it to see what can I do with it.

    Been to:

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.

A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?

I have only been able to play as France and Prussia so far. France was fairly easy played at normal levels for strategy and battles. I found it much more challenging at the Hard levels, but am not yet a good enough strategist to win. Prussia is fun, because it is so economically weak at first. I Have faced imminent bankruptcy several times, and have finally dug myself out of the whole after facing nearly all the major powers as enemies.

Austria looks like an even greater challenge.

Austria is not as tough a faction to play as it was in ETW but it is not the easiest either.

Sorry if I am boring but I do like GB and France in this game. I love the French Cavalry.

The Peninsular Campaign is as playable as the basic game.

Playing Austria on H/H - dont know what to make out of it.

Have liberated Switzerland and trading with them now - they are kind of ok with me for now. About to take Italy. France hasnt messed with me since I kicked them out of Stuttgart. Only the Ottomans -ah the good old Ottomans are the real thorn - they have besieged my full stack in Belgrade with 3 full stacks of theirs (mostly light infantry and cemat Janissaries). Oh and I am almost barely staying afloat .. Austria isnt making much money

Yes you really have to open ports and trade nodes to make any money there.

Finances look good now - trading with almost everyone now and even Italy and Switzerland are now protectorates.

I have 3 Armies on the French Border ready to hit and pulverize the French. Also I have 5 Spies blowing away things everywhere in France for the past 7-8 Turns. Conservative estimate - This alone costs the French 2-3000 a turn - enough to keep them from maintaining a front line stack.

On the Ottoman Side - it was a 1500 vs 4500 contest with 3 full Ottoman stacks besieging Belgrade. I attacked them, and due to the reluctance of the Ottomans to come and fight (they stayed behind) I shelled the crap out of their cavalry units. Reinforcing units met the same fate. The Result ??? A close defeat with 4 deaths and 600 Kills.

The next turn 2 armies bypassed Belgrade to pillage the countryside, I attacked and destroyed the third army and the Ottomans accepted peace for 2 turns.
Now the Ottomans are set to lose Athens in a few turns.

Looks like I will win this campaign

Cool Re: Favorite Campaign or Faction

of coz the Prussian lah!!! coz they have the best light in the game!and the cheapest militia!but they only good in army....then the British can recruit the cheapest navy especially can recruit the indiamen as battleships, then it makes them take out all trade route and earn all the trade income in the game...

i also love french, the highest morale militia in the game,if you try the fire fight with other line infantry,it wins most of the time.....

Russia!!! they got a lot of steam sawmill!! i use them in numbers or cheating by using jagers most of the time!!!i love the outlook of russian musketeers and jagers and opelchenie....same reason i love Prussian landwelhr's outlook!!!

except i still ain't try the Austria yet until now(coz there is no much light to be recruit it seems....)....and Spain.....i so love to exchange fire with using light and militia.....(not like the line coz they easy to get shot with their close, compact formation, that make those light and militia are the most cost effective units in the game!!!),and it seems the Austria are the hardest in the game coz they will be attack by two front,by Ottoman and France...
