    Default Script Not Functioning

    Hey guys, basically I think EB is having a problem running the script, more specifically regarding the creation of client rulers. In the past I noticed how if I ended a turn in which I was establishing a client kingdom, without activating the script, that the "client King" would not gain the client trait or any other bonuses.

    However, I am activating the script and no matter what I do or how many times I try to demolish / rebuild or do it in another city, on another faction and save game, it never seems to work. The script just appears to not be functioning for this tiny tidbit. I still get the information via "Faction Announcements" and such feed to me correctly, just not this client kingdom thing.

    Any ideas on what this problem might be would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Do NEVER load up another campaign and start the script if you already loaded up a different nation...restart EB before doing that.
    2. This part of the script got reworked for EB1.2, you're sure you running 1.2+fixes? (check the version number in the menu)
    3. Any minimods?
    4. Run validateInstall.bat and post your results here (if there are problems with the validation tool, check: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=93236)

    1. Wow, never knew that! I will make sure to restart EB whenever I want to switch factions now!

    2. The menu says I am running version 1.2, but I did have some problems installing the 1.2 patch. For a long while I simply couldn't get it to work, even following the given instructions perfectly. However, eventually I decided to just manually enter in all the new files into their appropriate places. I have had no problems for over a month, and why I suddenly can't make client rulers have the traits they need is beyond me.

    3. Just force diplomacy, nothing else.

    4. I ran the validation.... uhh... the results were pretty large....

    You seem to have a corrupt install. There are changes to files, or some are missing.
    However, these may be conscious changes you have made, to remod EB. See below for details.

    From what? Crack?

    Apart from that, you are missing the 1.2 fixes (load them from my sig).

    If you done that switching between factions often you might have 'corrupted' traits of your client rulers. Check if the same problem occurs after starting a new game (use cheats to speed up things).

    Great! I will try it out ASAP, only question remaining: Will the patch be save game sensitive? Meaning, will I have to start a new game in order for the fixes to work?

    Ok, I just I just tested it out and this is what happened.

    I loaded up the Romani game I have been working on for some time now, I tried establishing a client kingdom and the results were the same as before, i.e. client ruler would be spawned but without the Roman name or client ruler traits.

    I then started a new Romani campaign (making sure to stick to the same faction as to avoid script errors as you mentioned) and then established a random client kingdom; it worked.

    I suppose this means that the patch is save game sensitive and if I want to be able to work with the patch fixes I will need to start a new campaign, is this true?

    The fixes are all retroactive, I just told you that so you have the most stable EB1 version you can achieve...

    Did you just recruit a new general in your old campaign or did you also build the lvl4 government again?

    However, since it is working in a new campaign you should come along :)

    I was rebuilding the lvl 4 government. However.... interesting results I have found in my testing!

    I did some tinkering on my old campaign and I found a solution to my problem. At first I would rebuild the lvl4 gov and I just kept getting more and more -Roman First Name- but blank sheet "non-client" client rulers. However, I noticed that if I move the old "mess up ruler" out of the city, and leave NO FMs inside, then the next lvl4 gov ruler spawn would be spawned correctly. As you can imagine, leaving the old, screwy, member in the city just led to more messed up rulers.

    So yeah, weird... but thankfully everything is working now. Thanks a lot for the help XSamatan!
