bump..
Sorry for the wait. Real life has been kicking my butt hard, but I'm now unemployed and have more time if nothing else. I'll get this soon or it can be skipped.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Zim. You were employed in the police force or something similar if I remember correctly? Please excuse my ignorance. So what now? Don't despair, my mother was unemployed in England for the better part of two months but she found a job that's 5 minutes away from her house by car and one that is better paid than her last one, and she's over fifty and a foreigner there. You'll be fine!

Yep, laid off as part of the some 80% or so of my already stretched department that lost their job.
Just finished the bulk of my unemployment paperwork, not sure what I'll be up t now except looking for new work.
I saved some money and have at least 6 months of unemployment. Having graduated magna cum laude from a major university it was somewhat funny to go to an unemployment seminar and be told I can go to school to work in landscaping. .

I can't believe I'm so close to death! I've got a lot to learn. @Nightbringer
slysnake has been performing superbly this time around. I think we will have our vengeance for the bad way things turned out for our alliance in the last Teutonics game. Though NB had the short end of the stick last time, he's been doing fine so far with an inferior faction. Though those Dragon Boats are murder.

You want to know why I think I'v been doing well for once? MISSILE CAVALRY! Works like a charm - always! Especially since Poland is able to recruit high-quality missile cavalry from the start in 2 settlements :)
The HRE has a decent recruitment facility down south which can recruit feudal knights (which I can still not recruit myself) although they are expensive and the rate at which they can be recruited is slower than the rate at which they are depleted in battle, which means the extent to which they are useful is limited. Poland also has a couple of high-income cities from the start and the weak Mongols to the east who have virtually no armoured units to field from the start of the game.
I think the only reason Poland failed last time was because @Myth (Teutons) and I (HRE) rushed him from the start before he had a chance to field a good number of decent armies to threaten us with. Next game I think I may try Denmark :)
Last game was forced AR which means the TO alone can severely cripple the Polish with one stack and outright slaughter them with all their starting armies combined.
Also, this game your success is also due to Cecil allowing you to lead versus his armies. Jav-Cav and HA in the hands of the AI will get mauled in lead battles. Unless it's a SS Mongols fullstack with a 10/10 command/dread general.

Such is the way of lead battles... Though also I must admit the HRE is one of the weaker factions in this mod.

Ya, Poland on AR was pretty brutal last time I must say. I remember having to bring about 3 full stacks against one of yours just to have even odds. At least I did kill one Teutonic stack, I take that as an accomplishment.

Well, I do believe this is nearing an ending if you two are going for an allied victory. With my allies falling fast there is likely little I will be able to do, especially given the lack of success my invasion force has had.
Well fought to all though, and I will gladly fight to the death.
Who knows, perhaps Poland or the Teutonic order shall see an opportunity for even greater dominance through alliance with Denmark?
in any case
Poland up! @slysnake

And good game @Cecil XIX , it's a shame you never got to use that massive (now rebel) army you had amassed down south against me!
Thanks Slysnake. Wish I could have done more, but at least I learned something. Good luck, Nightbringer!
Novgorod up. @Zim
The town of Pskov falls to the Teutonic onslaught. Novgorod is soon to be destroyed. Unfortunately the Teutonic knights are not the keenest of sailors. The Order's armada while numerous, failed to overcome the seasoned Danish pirates and thus the shores of Europe are still threatened by them. However, once on land, the Danes best be prepared for swift justice by steel and fire!

Made a dumb move (there's a surprise ). I could have taken that trebuchet west of Pskov if I hadn't already moved a certain unit of mine. Not that it would have done much good long term.

Well then, congratulations to slysnake for a well played game, and to the rest of you, especially Nighbringer. I learned yet another new thing - ships matter in this mod, and Denmark's (and I suppose, Norway's as well) are vastly superior to those of the inland nations.
@phonicsmonkey care to write this game off as completed?

Ships are indeed important, but I think I simply took far too long to get over there. I concentrated no taking all of scandinavia before building up and attacking you, but I think things would have gone far better if I had attacked more quickly. By the time I got there, Novgorod was basically gone and with Poland on your side my chances of accomplishing much were pretty much gone. trebs would have helped a lot, but I just got access tot hem in the last couple turns, so they were too late to make it possible to gain any headway.
The odd thing is, I was sure that once I owned all of scandinavia I was going to get bonus units from an event, but didn't. I don't know this mod very well, so is that only for Norway, or does that not exist at all? I'm not really sure. I might have been less zealous about killing off Norway if I had known that wasn't going to happen.
I also woyuld have been better off by trying to form an alliance block earlier. I had thought I was gonig with the TO actually, but as they became too powerful I tried to collect everyone else, but it was jsut too late to break apart the TO and poland.
In any case, well played to all!

Aye, me and slysnake had an alliance formed before turn 1 was played. Poland holds the key to keeping the TO in check, since they are in immediate proximity to the TO's two most important recruitment centres.
BTW we are playing a modified Teutonics game which makes Norway playable, improves their roster and also removes the Kalamar union event for Denmark. This was since the last Teutonics game, Phonics provided the modded files.
