    Angry Graphics Problem!

Hi! I just installed Rome Total War on my netbook, and everything went fine. I should point out, though, that I chose "No" for the 2 dialogue boxes during the installation that asked to install DX9 and Media Player update, because I figured that the latest would do.

But now when I tried to play Quick battle-- or any battle, for that matter-- the graphics are all messed up. Can anyone recommend any settings for me? I have a Toshiba NB510 with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, Intel Atom N2800 @ 18.6GHz, 2.0GB RAM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 Series.

    Thank you!

Do you have any version of Direct X? Have you tried updating your video card drivers?

Yes, I have DirectX 11. Yeah, I already did. Twice. And still nothing. :| I've wanted to play again for a long time now.

Do you have UAC enabled for Windows 7? That could cause all sorts of pain for older games. I'd suggest you run the exe file as an administrator and in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

    Hello there!

Excuse my first posting here.. So, i've installed RTW after 5 years on my notebook. Specs:

    15,6"-os WXGA HD LED / Intel® Core™ i7-3537U / 8GB DDR3 / 1TB HDD + 20GB SSD / NVIDIA® GeForce® GT720M 2GB / Windows 8

The game runs with awfully low fps :( the battles are almost non-playable. I've had no problem with older PC-s (which are now long gone... :( ) and no problem with newer games. But RTW seems to be an exception.

Any idea what can cause it? I'm running the game with WindowsXP compatibility mode, with medium settings and it's very-very laggy.

Is it campaign map lag or battle map lag?
