PEASANTS DONT LIKE BEING TAXED (ECONOMIC CHALLENGE) MOD VERSION 1.0
    by iLeeT_PeeP

    IMPORTANT NOTES
    * Created for MTW with the XL 3.0 Mod + Tyberius 2.0 Final Release Mod with the 2.1 and 2.2 Patches applied! ONLY USE WITH THIS VERSION!
    * The XL 3.0 Mod requires the VI expansion and the VI 2.01 patch.
    * If you are experiencing Medieval_TW_.exe errors during your campaign try setting the campaign map to the lowest resolution. (It may help.)
    * Im not sure if it works with previously saved games but it would defeat the point to use it with a saved game and starting a new game is the best way to get the total experience.
    * Playing the campaign on HARD or EXPERT is recommended.
    * Buildings and upgrades still improve loyalty as normal.
    * Traits (Vices and Virtues) have a more drastic impact on gameplay. (10% happiness goes a long way now... especially on newly acquired provinces.)
    * The more provinces a faction begins with the more difficult the ECONOMIC CHALLENGE will be to keep it together at the start.
    * You now have to strategically plan your economic uprise.

    DESCRIPTION
I always felt something was missing from my MTW XL MOD+TIBERUS MOD experience and this is exactly what it was! It was way too easy to get rich! The concept behind these tweak files is simple... people NO LONGER LIKE TO BE TAXED! It made absolutely no sense that 2 provinces is all you needed to have a neverending flow of gold pouring in that you just couldnt finish. It throws out the window the #1 reason to seek out and conquer new territories... to acquire new lands and wealth. If 2 provinces is all you need because they will pay you VERY HIGH taxes with 200% loyalty all the time then why even try to expand? You can be up to your head in gold by just ending your turn over and over. These tweaks help reverse those silly principles and hopefully give you a more realistic and much more fullfilling experience.

CHANGES (Simple yet very effective core changes!)
    * The people/peasants are now more rebellious to taxation.
    * Modified/increased the cost of all buildings. (Multiplied x4 the cost of all castles and x2 the cost of all buildings except merchant buildings and the royal palace.)
    * Modified/increased the construction times for farmland upgrades.

    TIPS/STRATEGIES
    * Having a guard/reserve army made up of peasant levies on a province is a good, cheap way to ensure extra loyalty. However it will cost you extra gold to have these guard/reserve armies in place.
    * Balancing your weak guard/reserve armies with your strong offensive armies is key to your factions survival.
    * There are also several buildings which also improve loyalty... construct them wisely.
    * Remember when attacking a nearby province with one of your armies to watch the change in your % of loyalty in the province your attacking from to silence revolts. Going to war (removing a large part of the garrison in that province) + very high taxes will make the people/peasants very unhappy. Lowering taxes in that province may help surpress revolts.

    INSTALLATION
Simply cut and paste the 3 .TXT files EARLY_XL, HIGH_XL, and LATE_XL from the PDLBT FILES folder into the Medieval - Total War\campmap\startpos folder and overwrite all 3 files.
Next cut and paste the remaining 6 files into your main Medieval - Total War folder (the one with Medieval_TW.exe in it) and overwrite all 6 files.

    UNINSTALLATION
Simply copy and paste the 3 .TXT files EARLY_XL, HIGH_XL, and LATE_XL from the DEFAULT BACKUPS folder into the Medieval - Total War\campmap\startpos folder and overwrite all 3 files.
Next cut and paste the remaining 6 files into your main Medieval - Total War folder (the one with Medieval_TW.exe in it) and overwrite all 6 files.

Hello all. I am currently testing it as the Castile-Leonese faction on EXPERT with DEFAULT unit sizes and its playing out very well. However, I do know that this is gonna produce an extremely different experience for all factions, eras and difficulties. Please feel free to share your experience(s) and any questions and/or comments you may have here. I only tried it out for a few hours... and im as new to it as you are at this point in time. Its a BRAND NEW modification. Cheers to all. Enjoy...
