Default OK. This could be a stretch...

Anyone listen to doom metal? I've been a fan for quite a while, but I'm having difficulty finding good bands.

This is my funeral doom metal list.

    1) Ahab. A must have.

    2) Dreams After Death. A pretty good unsigned band.

    3) Embrace of Silence

    4) Esoteric

    5) Evoken

    6) Funeral

    7) Mar De Grises

    8) Mournful Congregation

    9) Okera. Brilliant Australian melodic doom band.

    10) Pantheist

    11) Shape of Despair

That's all I got so far. I NEED MOAR!

NEW AHAB ALBUM IN 2 WEEKS! Oh yeah.

    Single off their new album.

Why don't you try listening to something a bit more cheery or with a bit more energy?

My other favourite genres include grindcore, powerviolence, thrash and hardcore punk. So that covers the "bit more energy" part.

I'm very morbid, but also very spastic and hyperactive. I'm full of contradictions.

You live in Australia. Go to the beach. You'll feel better.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

I hate the beach. I live in the mountains. Where it's cold and dark. And I love it.

The Ahab songs sound like some 80-90's metal band, whose name escapes me at the moment, but with a death metal vocalist and better production. The name will come to me eventually (or I'll have to look at my cassette collection, get off my lawn...).

What's new in grindcore these days? I stopped paying attention about the time Pitchshifter went all techno, and since Godflesh disbanded I don't really listen to heavy stuff anymore.

I'm guessing the bit in bold has a different meaning in Australia from what it does in the UK.

There are all these different sub genre's for grindcore. Cybergrind, goregrind, pornogrind, mincecore etc. Stuff like Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Unholy Grave, Kill The Client, Noisear.

Yeah, I don't have cerebral palsy. I'm using the American urban definition.

I'm into hardcore punk, which bands do you listen to?

Black Flag, Spazz, Idol Punch, F*** on The Beach, BBQ Chickens, Vivisick, Rapegoat, Cryptic Slaughter, Shai Hulud, Real Reggae, Romantic Gorilla, Razors Edge (not the racist one), S.O.B. etc.

There are a few powerviolence/grindcore punk bands in that list.

Black Flag is a good one, their lyrics crack me up. The rest of those I hadn't heard of, I looked a few of them up and I really liked BBQ Chickens. When it comes to Hardcore I listen to bands like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Articles of Faith, Dead Kennedys, Uniform Choice, the old stuff from when it first started.

To each, his own. I dislike a lot of popular music, but I don't hate it. It's just not my thing. So I leave them to their own devices.

So you hate metal, and you hate popular. Do you like classical? That's the second most played genre on my iPod.
