I was coming back home when it started raining, a rare event here evening during monsoons and somehow it always rains when I'm outdoors and I don't want to get wet.
Anyway I was on my motorcycle, when this guy in a car rushes past me. It was raining hard and the road was filled with water, I was already drenched, got another splash up to my waist. Then suddenly my bike splutters a bit, and stops. Somehow, water had gone inside the spark plug, and it would no longer start. Spent fifteen minutes trying fix it, without success, finally gave up and dragged it a few kilometers to the house of an acquaintance, who turned out to be out of town. I parked the bike at his place and started wending my way home. Again, the roads which are so full of taxis on other days were totally devoid of them today. Finally reached home half an hour later, drenched to the bone and in a terrible temper, having been splashed on the way more times than I cared to count.

It truly does pour, when it rains.

A car rushes past you? That is not a motorcycle you are riding, must be a moped or sometin'.
A motorcycle is the king on the road... you are the troll, not the car. You should have the power to weight ratio of a super car. Nothing should get past you, not even a super car.

And always wear the correct protective gear. Something akin to the plate armour wore by knights.
Yes that includes kevlar jacket and pants with protective hard bits on knees, hips, elbows and shoulders. Knuckle reinforced gloves, Spine shell, Carbon or fiber glass helmet (not plastic) and reinforced and ankle protecting gortex boots. All of them water resistant.

Maybe more suitable in cooler countries... like Norway.
But if you go fast enough, the wind...

Anyone who knows about the North West of England knows how terrible the weather here can be, and my particular town pretty much has it's own micro-climate separate from the rest of the region; in the space of an hour on Monday it went from being overcast but dry to heavy rainfall and strong winds to typical summer sun and heat back to overcast muggyness.

Being a pedestrian in that sort of rain is terrible and I think the drivers here love giving us a good soaking; I tend to walk as far away from the curb as I can when there's huge puddles around, but that just encourages them more! :<
