More balanced forces?

Hey guys sorry if this has been posted before still getting used to this forum. I am looking for a mod/patch that makes the game more balanced, I usually play as Julius Family/Seleucid Empire and I find it really annoying that 80% of army ends up running away from my units after I kill like 100 of their man , 1 unit runs away and all follow. Is there a way to modify the game to make enemy stand and fight more instead of routing all the time? It's really annoying and since I like to play the game as realistic as possible and don't want to set battle difficulty to anything above hard (level I play now) because they will get random bonuses out of nowhere I would just like to modify the game so routing is not so massive/frequent. I play vanilla 1.3 RTW
