Apparently, burglars are now aiming for garden houses in our town. The police advices citizens to put a decent lock on your garden house. Our ancient garden house doesn't even have a door, so a lock seems pretty useless.

We have menacing looking gras though, so I hope that'll keep the burglars away.

Well, hopefully the police will quickly restore lawn and order!

Oh the bliss of open borders

ANECDOTE, I didn't have enough money to pay for my groceries, bank was late. So I jokingly said to the cassierre, middle-aged Turkish that is 1.50 at best, that I would have to look my mommy in the eyes really nice. She exploded and I got verbally bitchslapped about responsibility and savings in front of a whole line of customers, and that I should be providing her instead of the other way around. Walked out red as a tomatoe with the eyes of chuckling customers firmly in my back

I recall watching a local-news broadcast about something or other that was related to milk costing as much as $4 a gallon. That was a decade ago.

AFAIK, most of the milk sold in my area costs $4 a gallon today.

    Is that a good thing?

What are other Orgahs paying for (a gallon of) milk?

    Usually about 99p for 2 litres, I guess about £2.50 for a gallon = US$ 3.77.

Isn't a gallon of milk a bit unwieldy? 3 litre cartons are large enough and a gallon is 50% bigger.

edit: Just checked, a US gallon is smaller than a British gallon. Still nearly 4 litres though.

lol, depends if you drink a lot of milk or not. I buy 6 gallons at a time, and carry 3 in each hand. (because pride will not allow me to make two trips like my girlfriend).

It's quite the same over here. It's like bikes are a bit of general property. You take one use it drop it, someone else takes it drops it. If yours is taken you take someone else and so on. It's almost communism on small scale.

I sense an untapped market for bicycle locks and chains.
Now if I can only find the capital to setup, I'll be a millionaire in no time.

The lock is more expensive than the bike ;) An expensive lock might prevent theft but your bike will be vandalised. As Moros rightly says, bycicles are regarded as common property. Nobody will get overly angry if it gets snatched. Rules of chivalry is that you only steal the ones that are already falling apart, it's not seen as a crime. Grand Theft Bycicle ;)

I just wrote 24 headlines for the same dang article, and still they aren't happy. Here's the thing: Good writing of any sort depends on specifics.

If I write, "Lemur Bad," there's no impact, no resonance, nothing. "Bad" lacks the specifics.

If I write, "Lemur Known Goat Molester," suddenly you have an image to work with, and the whole thing makes sense.

Anyway. These idiots want a headline that says everything, hence their inability to settle on a single message. I keep pushing back at them, but this is going to be a long day.
