So I have taken a three year absence from playing EB and I'm going to try playing again in prep for the 2 beta. But my real question is what is the best mod for BI? Also did they say the beta comes out mid-August around the 20th?

You might be better off playing with rtw.exe, unless you like annoying, but non-threatening naval invasions from everyone else sharing the same body of water.
