The game keeps collapsing on it own like most other games do when you hit the "windows" key. Since it rarely actually crashes when this happens, its only annoying but I have to wonder if this is a known problem and if there is a known fix.

What operating system are you using?
High Plains Drifter
Seen this just a few times. Seems like an application accesses the desktop and RTW suffers. Auto virus scan etc. - sometimes no obvious culprit. If it's happening a lot maybe try starting task master and check running apps or processes. Google the processes.
Here's a short list of the most common problems:
-disable UAC
-install the game outside of your Program Files (x86) folder
-set RTW launcher to Run as Administrator
Without knowing which copy of RTW you are using (original disc, d/l from Steam, etc) it's hard to be more specific. Try browsing through this forum to see if anything matches the problems you are having:

High Plains Drifter
Come to think of it, MTW did something similar whenever autoupdates ran. I have a few things running; first best guess would be my Hughesnet Status Meter or my virus program
RE: Reluctant Samurai - Without knowing which copy of RTW you are using:
Boxed disc with Barbarian Invasions. Checking out the linked discussion now (thanks).
