    Question Renamed settlemets

    I was delighted -playing SPQR- when Taras became Tarentum (Taras) and Syrakousai Syracusa (Syrakousai) upon getting under Roman rule. However, the renaming mechanics is either incomplete (most likely) or not working for some reason, because Medilanon remained as is. If it is incomplete, how can we -partly- complete it ourselves for the time being?

    Select the settlement and click on the name display at the bottom right part of the UI to edit it.

    I believe that it is part of the Campaign Script (campaign_script.txt) (cf. section 7) and adding the appropriate name in expanded.xml(/.txt). From what I understand, it is a fairly simple, if time-consuming task.

    Ideally, we would like to expand this for instances where the names are known, but, as I am sure people can appreciate, it is not a priority currently...

    Thanks! It makes all the sense not being a priority. Maybe the efforts of the willing nerds in the community could speed it up a bit though

    expanded.xml requires little further work if any; it's the campaign script that is lacking. I'm putting my hands and feet into this. If I succeed it may prove a fun micro-mod for the interested

    Hi Mouza!

    If you get this up and running and need some help organizing historical alternate names for settlement name changes, let me know.

    It could be fun to try to apply this not just to Roman takeovers, but that of other cultures when possible, yes?

    E.g.

    (Greek->Roman)
    Nikaia->Nicaea

    (Greek->Carthaginian)
    Alexandreia->Iskandarim

    (Carthaginian->Greek)
    Qart-Hadast->Karkhēdōn

    (Greek->Parthian)
    Ekbatana->Hangmatana

    Not only Romans are in my mind for sure, would like to extend it to all known settlement names from all known perspectives, though doing one pass a time may be wise

    2.2b is a big step forward in including more renames but there's still space for improvement. Back to working on this

    There's two parts to this. Firstly, you list the alternative names in the expanded.xml (we don't work with the .txt files, so editing those isn't very useful since someone would then have to re-key them into the .xml). Secondly, the relevant section of the campaign_script needs to be updated.
    It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
    Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

    Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing
