Default Irish tourist defends himself vs 15 in Turkey

What I got from hearsay (someone confirm please): this big guy from Ireland went outside his hotel to get some water. Opened the fridge, all the stacked bottles fell. The shopkeeper attacked him with a stick (what the heck?!) then 14 more guys came to beat on him. They didn't count on him being a tough as nails boxer who floored several.

factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations,
when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field.

    These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth;
    (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline.

Sure has a good punch heh. Tourists in Turkey can be really bad-mannered, white trash behaving like white trash, so it was probably a misunderstanding gone wrong.

I once saw a boxer KO 6 guys with 6 punches once...

Most brutal thing I have ever seen...

It's easy if you know how, a straight punch on the chin will take out anyone no matter how big. The brain can't register the jaw being slapped back and just shuts off.

Some boxers can take as many punches on the chin as you like and yet stay "awake".

    They do it differently.

"Chin down" is the first you learn in boxing.

They have bits for a reason, it prevents it from happening. There is no defence against, you drop, your brain just stops working.

It's not exactly like that. The brain actually shuts down from the shock if it gets knocked against the back of the skull. Punching someone in any area of the face is a great way of breaking your knuckes, since the skull is pretty much the toughest bone in the human body and your knuckles are quite fragile. If you really want to take someone out quick and easily, try smashing the base of your hand in his chin with an ascending motion, aiming to tilt his head back. You have virtually no risk of injury and there's a big chance you'll knock him out when his brain hits the back of the skull. Even if that doesn't happen, continuing this motion while moving forward so as to drop your weight on that person will very easily knock him down. Just be careful if you don't really plan on killing him, because if he falls headfirst he will take very serious damage. You can also very easily couple the strike to the jaw with a blow of your other hand on his kidneys or a knee in the groin. Very cheap and practical self-defense.

    What the Mammoth said...

Boxers move WITH the punch, so the brain don't slam. When they forget to do it they get knocked out like anyone else, that's what's called a KO.

The fact my friend could knock 6 people down with 6 punches was because they were untrained boxers, not for some superman ability of him.

One must remember, boxer vs boxer = they both know what to do... It's when they meet people who don't, that it gets REALLY interesting ;)

Oh, and these person all had momentum towards his punches, not away from them... Sillies...

This vid, as an example, shows 2 guys down with 2 punches....

Also happens to be one of my favourite videos on the internet for the sheer awesomeness of it...

*was one extra punch and kick after they were down, for good measure*

Irish are cold mf's definitely but this Turkish guy might be the best boxing performance on a youtube street fight. Has the hand speed, combinations, and accuracy of a UFC fighter. It's not easy to knock people out with quick jabs like that even if they're scrubs, takes training.

Careful who you run up on.

Still, some boxers (the Klitschkos, for once) are reputed to have fragile ("chrystal") chins, others (like one of their latest adversaries, don't remember his name, though) can weather 12 rounds being hit in the face and stay on their feet.

I am a pretty servicable [kick]boxer myself I know what to do. Two of my sparringspartner's pupils are world-champion in their class
