    Further to the above :

The crash occurs BEFORE the initial red "Shogun" splash screen, and also BEFORE the games CD check ; so I think the problem is very basic...!

The error screen "title" is SHOG_CPP and the message is :

    "SHOG_CPP has stopped working".

NB : The game has not managed to set up cfg files : shoguncg or shogunfe ; however, when imported from a working version of the game, exactly the same crash ( as noted in the previous post ) occurs.

NBB : All compatibility modes have been tried ( and each has failed ).

    Hmmm,

    The silence is deafening...

I know some of you "out there" have a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop and a WORKING ( STW ) game !!!
Can one ( or more ) of you please compare your O/S specifications with mine and advise any differences.

    Thanks...

I have Win7/64bit but on my desktop PC, not a laptop. It runs fine but for one glitch...I cannot exit the game the normal way. I have to Alt-Tab it to desktop, and close it with Task Manager.

In what directory is the game installed? For me, I had problems getting the game to run until I removed it from the Program Files (x86) directory

    Hello !

I installed it directly onto the C drive ( as done previously with a Vista O/S ). Did you install a copy of a game that you already had on another PC ?
[ The crash is so early that I wonder if it's a "recognition" problem of some kind... I am concerned that it does not even get to the Splash screen !! ]

I have the Sold Out CD version, and I installed it directly from the disc.

I am afraid you have misunderstood my question here...

I have the EA Classics ( 2 CD version ) Original, not Gold or Warlord, and I too installed it directly from the disc.
However, I had previously installed it on a Vista O/S , and have now installed it on a Windows 7 Laptop O/S.
Therefore the same game ( with the same Serial No. ) is now on 2 PC's.

I was therefore wondering if you had also installed your game ( with the same Serial No. ) on a previous PC.

However, my problem has been Solved !!

My Laptop was missing a Flash Player...

I therefore copied the Macromed file from my Vista PC to my Laptop ( via a USB drive).

My game now works perfectly !

[ I did have to import an Autosave file into the game to enable me to save a game though... ]

I now have a very minor problem : the game does not use all of the Laptop's screen.
I have tried adjusting the in game resolution settings ( including Widescreen / Fullscreen ), but no changes occurred.

    Any suggestions ??

I guess I did misunderstand Only have the single installation on my desktop.

Good that you finally got it running

As to the resolution, I followed this suggestion:

    Thanks for the recent suggestion.

However, today, the resolution ( aspect ) problem has fixed itself !!!

Yesterday, I changed the resolution to and from Fullscreen and nothing happened in game ( re the Campaign map ).

[ The aspect problem ( if I recall correctly ) only occurred there ].

Today I loaded it up and it fills up the screen correctly!

[ Upon checking the Widescreen / Fullscreen aspect in the video part of the in game options, Fullscreen is shown. ]

I can only presume that the aspect change ( so far as my Laptop is concerned ), required me to close the game and reopen it, before the settings change occurred.

    Strange.

I would guess the imported save-game might have had something to do with it. Now that you have an updated save your current game settings took preference

That sounds quite feasible - better than my guess too...

It would seem that you have not allocated enough shared memory to the graphics adapter. You will need to configure this in the BIOS or UEFI. It's possibly the root of all your problems...

Definitely the boxes around trees and dead bodies disappearing was an age old problem and usually related to older graphics hardware with insufficient RAM.

If you don't allocate enough memory, the problems will continue. Ensure that about 128MB of RAM is allocated.

Apologies for the delay re this request ; but just how do I adjust the RAM memory allocation here ?

Thanks in advance for any help...
