My friend's aunt who lives on the Navajo reservation used to use kerosene to light her home because she didn't have electricity. I was pretty surprised to learn people still use kerosene for anything other than camping in the US.I don't think I've had incandescents in my home since I was quite young. Actually, I suppose I still do; my old nightlight might be around somewhere.
They're still the majority in private settings, but current figures indicate they more-or-less no longer exist in commercial or industrial settings (in the OECD world).
More interestingly, outside the OECD world kerosene plus CFL beats out incandescent.
