    Default Halcyon 6

    Has anyone played Halcyon 6?

I saw a release notice for it on GOG and was immediately intrigued. I took a look at a Let's Play on youtube and decided it was probably worth the $17 they were asking for it. After spending a few hours playing it, I'm hooked.

To me, it's reminiscent of FTL, except instead of focusing on a single ship, it expands the scope out to the entire starbase. You're responsible for defending allied settlements, fighting pirates, managing foreign relations and... of course, fighting off a mysterious alien threat. Fleet battles, landing parties, personnel and resource management- it's got it all. This would be a no-brainer for any Trek fan gamers, imo.

If it actually supported resolutions above 640x480 and the alien design weren't so ugly, then superficial me might be interested.

I play it at native resolution on my laptop. 1366x768. I can't help you with the rest of your graphics snobbery though.

It is a pleasant game, but it can be rather grindy You destroy a bunch of portals, then a bigger bunch spawns quickly, and floods all your outposts with attack ships. So it is a feeling of them constantly nipping at your heals, rather being a major threat, just a nuisance. But I enjoyed a lot of the concepts, would be even greater if it had some more RPG elements which patches are promising.
