Thread: Hashishin - Have you seen the light?

I have seen the light, and I laughed my ass off while doing it

My friend SARACEN_KneggeHest sent me a replay of a 4v4 battle he did with some ronins against a clan, a very good clan as well, where he employed a unit of Hashishin with great success.

First the concealed Hashishin waited until the general assault had begun, then they flanked an approaching unit of Chiv knights and decimated them from the rear. After that they promptly outflanked the enemy main line again and routed his rear, aiding in the general rout of his army.

After that there was a second engagement, where the Hashishin AGAIN flanked the approaching armies and went straight into the enemy rear lines and routed them off

This replay has to be seen to be believed, and according to KH the Hashishin totalled at about 70 kills LMAO

Now I can see some use for these guys while on the defence in a 20k+ florin game, but part from that they seem too expensive for my taste.

I could upload the replay to the archives, but haven't yet gotten to the part of finding out how. So if anyone wants the replay, which is a great one, drop a mail or something.

Anyone else had a neat experience using some of the specialist troops available in MTW, lets hear about them

sure have mate... ive used then to some good effect in the same way you mention, even hitting the lonesome general with them cuses routs never seen before... they are really the most overlooked unit in the game

go the "Fida'in" it the propper name for these guys though, historically they despised "hashishin"

Nice to hear that Alrowan, although I must lack creativity and foresight since I've never managed to spend the Fida'in (don't want to make the madmen angry) wisely on the field of slaughter. Guess I'm afraid of loosing.

Oh and to those who would rather bring peasants... I bet you use Pav Arbs too

I've uploaded one 'what to do with Hashishin' and one 'what not to do with Hashishin' replay to the Org archives in one zip file named Hashishin.

Many thanks to KneggeHest, who doesn't bother with silly things like online forums, for the replays and the laughs who came with 'em

    Enjoy

    Cool

I use them yesterday for first time, tough i still need refining how to use them the results were quite good. 10 hashishin faced 40 Chivalric Knights and killed 11 only loosing 4.

    Hi Erik

    Sorry to point that out, but a few answers are missing in your poll;

    1/ Gah
2/ I could use them if they were throwing naptha
3/ I could use them if they were 60 in 99K games
4/ I could use them as invisible general

Personnally I haven't seen the light... Good units for killing/ flanking are supposed to kill more than 70 anyday... What Feydayn do that JHI can't?

But, I am wondering if there is anyway to turn them into monster throught cheese/valor gaining during battle...

Got to give it a try I guess...

    Best regards,

    Louis,

    Heya Louis

You are missing a bit of the point here actually, hehe. The Fida'in are regularily overlooked, ignored, underestimated, you name it. The JHI sure aint Also they can pop up just behind the flank of an attacker and break that unit clean, which can lead to a chain rout and numeral superiority on that particular flank. They can rout the rear units, usually pav or archers, of an advancing army right off. That's bad as well if the distance between the rear units and the front line isnt too huge.

That said the Fida'in are a gamble most often lost, but with skill and luck you might just be able to throw that sucker punch your enemy never expected. In a chaotic 4v4 the chances are greater, since confusion and deception goes hand in hand with their use.

Forget them in 99k games btw, nothing routs at that level...

They gain valor quickly if hitting enemies from the rear, but their lifespan aint that long and i've never experienced them getting above 4 valor during battle.

Nevertheless, have fun with them. You'll see the light yet m8

PS Haven't seen you on for a while, hope you have noticed my namechange.

Edited because you should try combining them on a far flank with a Ghazi Inf w3 push, if you manage that I guarantee you'll get lovely effects and results out of it. Get some Alans too, to exploit the situation

    Regards

When I do deploy the Fida'in, I jack them up to w3 level, and if its a 20k game I hand them a level of valor as well. Kill quick, break slower. Combined with v1 w3 Ghazi on one flank and a pair of MasterBachus recommended Alan v3's waiting to push and break thru...

That makes the game just that notch more worthful

Now this is knowledge best kept to oneself, but I figure the joy of spending Hashishin shouldn't be kept personal. Its all a matter of guts, so enjoy
