Hi-ya everyone,
I have not yet tried any of the mods available from the download section yet, but I am interested in trying some out.
I am looking for a couple of challanging campaigns that allow you to start small (as i get bored late in the game when your empire gets too large).
Can anyone recommendation a mod that might be suitable.

I don't play mods as I barely have time to play the game as is. But from a perspective of posts and comments I see on these boards, it appears Patricians and the Med Mod are the current hot mods.

I've just started playing with the Med Mod and it seems to be a lot of fun. Lots of the alterations are to try and balance the game, so I think that it is a good place to start, as nothing too earth shattering is done to start with. The buildings that are requred to build units are somewhat different, but they are all explained, so it doesn't take that long to figure out.

Look for the link here in the entrance hall under the Lords Napoleonic units Mod, try it if you like Carbines,muskets, charging Calvary and slashing Sabres...

Gregoshi verson 1.0 was a bit buggy and in the current 1.1 version, the AI isn't aggressive enough.

Try the sword bretheren mod or Bohemunds Teutonic order. Also Crazy Ivans croatia and Serbia mod is good to play. Personal fav at the moment is Norman Lords,that is really wicked dude.
I recomend the First Crusade set in the time of the first crusade ( duh) it has 9 new factions i think and quite a few new and changed units made by Grell
