If it falls on the speed you have to give orders - use pause.
Hi guys,
I'm a newbie here, been playing this game for about 2 months. I had good times with single campaigns, but absolutely no luck whatsoever with those historic battles. The only battles I've won are those set battles that I'm not in the middle of, well, ambush, ambush and more ambushes. The battle of Asculum was only battle that I've had success because I was not out numbered at the beginning, not in an disadvantaged terrian, and not being flanked either. The battle of Carrhae and The battle of Cynoscephalae were the two toughest battles. I've got a copy of this Prima official game guide of Rome TW, and I tried to follow the strategy in the book. I had little success. Can anyone here give me some help?
Thanks.
If it falls on the speed you have to give orders - use pause.
If you're fighting fair you've made a miscalculation.
Well Ive got to say I found them quite easy. But nless I know what you are doing wrong its hard to tell you what to do right. As Spetulhu says - use pause often to have a look around and give orders.
Be sure you arent getting flanked and/or hit in the rear. Try to eliminate the threat of enemy cav, and then hav your cav reap havoc on the enemy rear and missile troops.

I am coming home.
I've won Trasimane (I think thats the one, the one where the Gauls face off against two Roman armies), the one with the Romans vs Phyrus (was easy that one) and the Teutoburg Forest (with just seconds to spare)
I got my arse well and truly kicked at Raphia.
I think each battle has a 'thing' a winning formula or strategy, just keep on playing it, seeing what you do wrong each time you lose. Its what makes them fun, eventually you'll get the right formula to win, also use your brain, if you're a barbarian faction then you have a bonus in woods, use it, use your ability to hide in grass if you have it etc. It shouldn't be as easy as campaign battles, theres not so much margin for error in some of the battles:)

Carrae.. I've won every other battle but just can't beat the frigging parthians.
so I agree with you on that point Kublai , but I can't give you any advice on that battle.for the other battles when in doubt pause helps alot especialy when ambushed
use the armour piercing pila duh, well that's smart.

That one was quite simple - I completed that with 3/4 of my army left. Dont enter the city, let them come to you. Pound em with onagers and arrows as they leave the city. Use the companions to hit and run in the rear of the spartan units.Originally Posted by Emperor Umeu 1
