I don't see that it's got anything to do with any other country what they call themselves, but if forced I would go with this one:

The Republic Formerly Known as Iraq

Man, it always seems like the left Wants us to fail!

Even if Iraq is making progress, they call it a "quagmire". If troops die, they report on how grave the situation is and how we will fail. But all the while they rub their greedy little hands together with total glee.

Everything that might be bad for America is good for the left. They want America to fail. They want the terrorists to kick our butts in Iraq. That way they can shake their heads, wag their fingers, say "tsk tsk", and then scream for campaign contributions to overthrow the "secretive" and "lieing" administration.

Hmmm. Maybe we should be bombing the DNC as well as Iraq.

Quite ironic how many democracies do not call themselves 'democratic' but actually opt for much more totalitarian sounding names.

For example: The Kingdom Of Spain, Kingdom of Belgium, Kingdom of Denmark, United Kingdom.

That suggests these are harsh oppresive countries as opposed to a nice fluffy nation like The Democratic People's Republic Of Korea.

    New Iraqi constitution

This is a very strange document!

    Sharrukin , absolute classic
Any chance of a link to the "document" so we can have a laugh at the other alterations someone has made to the Nazi Party paper

I am not sure there will ever be again an Irak country.

So i would bet on Kurdistan, Iranistan and Syriaistan on the middle or long term.

But on the short or middle term, it will remain a blood bath for irakis so i do not think any name would have a meaning exept if it is Republic of Irak People's Slaughter.

It is formed from three Ottoman regions: Mosul, Baghdad and Basra

If you want to go back really far it would be Sumer, Akkad, Assyria or Babylonia. Or Chaldea or Persia.

A little more recently Baghdad was the capital of The Abbasid Caliphate. It then became a part of the Ottoman Empire.

It was given the name "State of Iraq" by the League of Nations.

Give it to The Republic of China (aka TAIWAN) so they have somewhere to run to when China invades.

Wow, that constitution is messed up. Um, who made that? Why did we bother invading and making a new gov if it is just going to be another corrupt, oppressive government?
Thanks for posting that Sharrukin, that was indeed wierd.

because now it´s our(US-coalition) corrupt oppressive government.....that makes it superior to their original corrupt oppressive government.

i hope that cleared any doubts.

Pwned! - just scroll down to Gibraltar.

I don't really care if it's a dependency of the Great Britain. It's in the factbook, and that's all that matters.

And the name isn't necessarily bound to the system of government.

Boznia and Herzegovina doesn't have a formal name. Neither do Belize, Canada (that's a big country as well, so ha) and Ukraine.

Canada is a Commonwealth (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) and that doesn't have a conventional long form name.

Its a joke Steppe , it is an alteration of a document from the Third Reich .
There is a similar one doing the rounds as the new US constitution .
Edit , my mistake , it predates the Third Reich , it is the Nazi Party manifesto from 1928 .

I ran into it at the Carnegie Endowment website and from what I have read they got it from an Iraqi paper.

Does anyone know if it actually is a fake?

Commentary and Translation by Nathan J. Brown

    NOTE:
    July 27, 2005
In the past few days, a variety of constitutional drafts have circulated. I have not had time to
translate, much less authenticate the various drafts. Two in particular deserve mention, however.
    1. The Iraqi daily Al-Sabah published a complete Arabic text at:
    http://www.alsabaah.com/modules.php?...ticle&sid=9064
I believe that this draft is a compilation of the work of the six subcommittees that have been
charged with developing the initial draft for each chapter of the constitution. From public
comments it is clear that such a draft was circulated among committee members on Saturday, June
    24. This Al-Sabah draft appears to be the one circulated on that date. It was thus compiled before
the full return of the Sunni representatives to the committee; some Sunni representatives
strenuously objected to the draft on the grounds that it had been composed and compiled without
their participation. And indeed the Al-Sabah draft not only has a very strong religious flavor—as
has been widely reported—but also a specifically Shi`i flavor. The draft indicates those issues where
strong disagreements remain and offers alternative phrasing for some provisions. It also has some
mild internal contradictions, suggesting that it is still incomplete. Since the draft’s compilation, the
Sunnis have returned to the committee and apparently some changes have been made, but I am not
aware of any leaked version of subsequent drafts.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
    -- John Stewart Mills

But from the absolute will of an entire people there is no appeal, no redemption, no refuge but treason.
