Lone Survivor, excellent movie about a failed attempt of a navy-seal team in Afghanistan, how scary must it be to be constantly hunted by people who are always a step ahead.

I found it pretty horrible. The Afghans were dying like flies, with one bullet been enough to decimate a Taliban brigade, while the hero should get more than a dozen, in order to properly die.

The last scene was rather ridiculous, too, with the Americans saving the day in the last minute, while the benevolent villagers were defending the American from hordes of malevolent Afghans.

All of the above were just pure fantasy of the director.

2/10 for too many cliches and excessive quantities of American propaganda.

The Devide, the worst terrible movies are the ones that were intended to be good. Nice images, lots of piano and strings for music. But it's a really bad movie, I have found more interesting things under my shoes than the characters, the writing is terrible,it's pretentious though it wants to be clever. It is not.

I'm curently watching Major Crimes and I admit that it's pretty fynny. Not as funny as The Mentalist, but every actor develops his character in depth, especially the chap playing Provenza.

Anyway, it's definitely much better than Cold War propaganda pieces, like NCIS.

Chernobyle Chronicals, straightforward horror-movie. But has one tning going for it, it is actually filmed in Pripyat. They could have done more with that but it's still cool.

Great fun! To paraphrase Rollingstone ...even after it stops making sense, still great fun!
    Violence: over the top
A couple of good female characters, not well developed; overall lacking in female perspective; a failing, but not necessary to good shoot'em up

Damnit, I didn't want this to be over. Penny Dreadfull, excellent series. I hope they reconsider not making a third season as there is plenty of room for more. Especially Dorian Gray is an awesome character that is criminally underused, series could have done without it so why put him in it.

Fully agreed! I was honestly surprised how much I liked it. I just wish it was a bit longer.

    The Warriors

An obvious classic gang movie from the late 70's. The ridiculous gang outfits just makes it all the better.

Bassem Youssef is officially the best thing (OK, person) that happened to the Arab World since Harun Ar-rashid!

EDIT: might as wel go into detail: basically, he's the Arab world's first modern satirical commentator a la Jon Stewart.

Kinda boring to be honest. Started out good but I think it lost focus after an hour or so.

Its a Netflix original, and its like Apocalypse Now, but instead of it being soldiers in Vietnam, its child soldiers in West Africa. Really well done.

    Soviet Solaris:

Well-shot, and well-acted by everyone on the station (except, surprisingly, for Bunionis). Many shots were drawn out too long, of course. It's the kind of movie where every scene inspires a strong opinion, but as soon as you reach the next shot everything immediately-prior just slides off the memory.

    Favorite lines:

In this situation, mediocrity and genius are equally useless. We have no interest in conquering any cosmos. We want to extend the Earth to the borders of the cosmos.

We don't know what to do with other worlds. We don't need other worlds. We need a mirror.
Listen, let's open these hatches and shout down below. It would suddenly hear. But what should we call it? Maybe we should whip it.

Or, better yet, pray to it.
I can never get used to all these resurrections.
You know, it's really embarrassing, but for some reason...I've completely forgotten your face.
The happiest people are those who are not interested in these cursed questions.

To ask is always the desire to know. Yet the preservation of simple human truths requires mystery. The mysteries of happiness, death and love.

Maybe you're right, but try not to think about all that now.

To think about it is to know the day of one's death. Not knowing that day makes us practically immortal.
The only thing left for me is to wait. I don't know what for. New miracles?

Got to see that, didn't know it existed. Loved the American version

tip, watch Singularity, somewhat it the same way solitude in space is handled. Story is completily different but the vibe of being alone is the same.

    Singleton's Pluck

Would it be wrong if I feel the hots for Stephanie Tague? She looked to be 18 or 19 when she appeared in this movie. She could be in my mom's age group now.

Well yeah, glad I did. Whole movie is on youtube for those interested, quality is pretty good. Even if you don't give a crap about martial-arts it's worth watching.

Black Gold, also free on youtube, good quality. About two Boudian tribes who have an uncomfortable peace-treaty but the discovery of oil changes everything. No good or bad guys, both leaders are really honorable. One tribe is very traditional and don't want the west to get any influence and the other embraces the opertunities. Worth watching, starts out really slow but of course it escalates.

Interstellar could be a solid recommendation if you like the genre, great science fiction(?) movie.

I saw that one too. Also really good but it started to lose me once they got into the different dimensions thing. But the Martian was fantastic through and through.
