And we've got the Super Cup too, quite expectably.

Kudos to the Tartars () for not breaking down like manure though.

On a serious note I fear the team ain't ready enough after the holidays, national team matches and all. But Zlatan is promising. He seems to be well integrating into the system.

So, first league match is with Gijon on Monday and thankfully a local sports channel will be airing La Liga this year too.

    BARÇA SAFOR!!

Excellent third goal for Inter. Had been watching Depor throw away a chance to go 3-2 up against what looks to be an unimpressive Real, but thankfully switched just in time to see Gattuso get himself sent off in predictable fashion.

When it comes to Juve, don´t forget Diego. Made 2 goals against Rome ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pLyD_MCbTk

He is a good player! My Werder heart is , but well...we have Marin and Özil. Werder builds up the stars and sells them 1-3 years later.

Now that truly was a fanboy experience! Exhausted having run around all day to do the dirty bureaucracy for the uni admission and tormented by the unbearable thirst which couldn't be helped before evening because of the fast, added on top a few hours out friends, I drag myself back home at about 2 AM, turn on the TV for the Barça - Dijon rerun, start dozing, occasionally awake seeing that it's 1 - 0, then 2 - 0, then 3 - 0 and finally mom stooping to get me up for meal...

It was the fondest sleep I had in weeks, maybe months, yet the TV was on and on it were Barcelona!

I see Ibrahimovic has settled in nicely, that was a very romantic moment during the celebration when Pique made sure Ibra's hair was sitting nicely behind his hairband.

Simply brilliant second goal by McFadden. He's suspended for the visit of our Dutch friends, thanks to [consistently] shocking refereeing.

Suprise, Suprise. Rooney dived again. In a friendly. Seriously, what the hell, that's the equivalent of me diving against a bloody primary school team. Disgraceful.

A school side that was playing the better football. Not that I don't enjoy seeing Slovenia lose, but they should have scored at least once.

Edit: Dutch on Wednesday night, aye. We beat them last time we played them at Hampden [in the Euro 2004 play-off first leg before we got humped over there]. McFadden scored the winning goal then, and he'd probably be just about the only one who could have done it now.

Woops. I mean the context of the game. Diving in a friendly is like doing the above. Not the fact it was against Slovenia. Couple more good one twos and they'll get a goal.

Should be interesting, Dutch won tonight 3 - 0, although Japan are hardly impressive. So that's the only game left then?

    No bother.

Yes, that's the last game in that horrendously weak group. Even if we win, we'll most probably be the worst second placed team. A thrashing for Croatia might help.

I've long since decided to pin any hopes [or damning positive feeling] on the Republic, or Norn Iron at a push.

Trust my stream to die just as Henry scores.

ESPN is a lie. He didn't score. According to my new stream.

[Tried for a long while to find a Cyprus - ROI stream, but couldn't. Turns out Norn Iron is on the BBC website, so.]

Denmark 1 - 0 Portugal is also quite amusing.

Too bad the stream is so bad, it's a good match.

Not looking good for the Czechs.

Danes stay top of their group. Three games to go. Swedes have 6 easy points, Danes 3 easy points and Portugal 3 easy points left to earn. Hungary have the most to do, playing Portugal twice and Denmark once. So exciting.

Yes, as I believe KOP might have pointed out earlier, sadly Hungary's position is a false one. Norn Iron caved, in as much as they conceded a soft [own] goal when they should have won that game. Must-win for them against Slovakia in Belfast in the week. The Republic managed to win 2-1 in Cyprus, staying on course for the play-offs.

Edit: I see Portugal's Brazilian striker import saved them. Disappointing.

Poor Kaladze, scored two own goals to give Italy a 2-0 victory over the Georgians.

And Ukraine score 3 penalties, two of them in injury time against Andorra.

Disappointing was the result (expected by the way...Queiroz is the boss!) cause if he score then it was a good import. Like i said so many times before, no goals no victories...too many goals missed once again...bah! bye bye South Africa...Denmark is already there, lucky Sweden in on his way and in the end we will help them even more by playing twice against Hungary...bye bye play-offs...bah!!!

Feel free to tell me if I'm doing them a disservice, but Denmark don't look to be a standout team. [Would still expect them to lose at home to Sweden. I'm still reasonably surprised they went over there and got a win.] From what I see of the Portugal game their keeper looked solid, although the finishing from the Portuguese/Brazilians didn't seem too clever. By contrast, Bendtner's take and finish looked surprisingly good for him.

Edit: Realised something didn't add up, had a quick check and saw Denmark won in Portugal last year. And in the last 10 minutes of the game, no less. Think I missed that somehow.

Here's a Danish video of those last 10 minutes, in case anyone else forgot about this one.

You feel that maybe because you saw Portugal as the big favourite in the group, and we were. However we failed a lot as a team...we don't deserv to be in the WC . Both Denmark and Sweden are good sides and Hungary is not a bad one as well! Just remember that Denmark was picked up in the last minute for the Euro 92...and they won!

I must admit that i'm far for beying enthusiast about naturalized players in our National Team. However, rotulating Portuguese players as Portuguese/Brazilians is the same than rotulating France as French/African, Holland as Dutch/Surinam, Switzerland as Swiss/Turkish or Germany as Germans/Polish/Iranians and so on...this is for a long long debate...one thing i'm sure, according to the law they were able to acquire citizenship and therefor they have exactly the same rights as any other citizen...they can vote, be elected or picked up for the national team.

For me it will be very very disappointing a World Cup without Ronaldo and probably Messi as Argentina is also in pain...

    Somebody called?

We are not capable of scoring more than one goal. Domenech's such a coward. I don't mind him that much, but for Pete's sake, grow a spine and throw in those attacking players.

Also...'Romanian Brothers?' I seem to recall a bit of a fraternal row between you and Edyz a few months ago, about Romania-Serbia?
We'll see what happens on Wednesday, Sarmatian.
Then again, all you guys need to do is to score once, then you are assured of at least a draw. Even if not, the group is basically over. Serbia first, France second unless we mess up again against Austria.

Looking through the groups, things are not looking good for Scotland. It is basically over for them, I think.
Portugal's position is nowhere near as hopeless as it seems. All they need to do is get their act together.
Belgium are beyond hope and redemption. I'd joke about it, but they are too far down for that. The players of the two biggest teams are not even speaking to each other anymore. Painful, might as well withdraw the national team from this competition and prevent further agony.
I see England are as rubbish as always, Europe's laughing stock and...no wait. Curses! At last, a coach who manages to get England's players to fulfill their potential.

I'd almost be willing to put money I don't have on Serbia qualifying on Wednesday night. I'm sure even Domenech sees it in the stars. It'll be good to see them, Croatia and Bosnia at a tournament. [Don't see Toikey winning in Sarajevo Zenica, as much as I'd like it for the sake of the Lenster.]
