Nice work AliaS :) . Is a campaign map banner symbol follow-up possible?
Hi,
for this tutorial you need Photoshop CS2 and we going to see how change old faction to new.
In the end of this tut we have something like this
(screen si taken from one mod)
(I change Milan faction symbol), for begin you can use this symbol what i find on net.
Naturally first unpack all files.
Campaign Map
(you must edit in vannila folder NOT in MYMOD)
Open stratpage_02.tga in
SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\ui\southern_european\interface\stratpage_ 02.tga
Open file and put there your own symbol.
Take black brush and paint background behind your symbol.
After that hold ctrl button and click with left mouse on layer with your symbol. You select it.
After that click on Channels. And turn off all layers and turn on layer with ALFA1
Take white collor and paint your symbol there where you have your selections.
If you paint it on white you must delete old white symbol so take black brush and push CTRL+SHIFT I and paint old white symbol on black.
If you have like on screen turn on all channels except ALFA1 that turn off.
Give it all to 1 layer and save and that is. :thumbsup2
Menu
It is same like on campaing map but you must open and edit these files.
(if you using mymod folder you can edit these files in your MYMOD folder.)
all files what you find here.
data\menu\symbols\fe_buttons_24
data\menu\symbols\\fe_buttons_48
IMPORTANT!!!
You must edit your medieval2.preference.cfg or you own cfg file with this
[io]
file_first = 1
or
[io]
file_first = true
I hope you understand what you must do, because my english is sux, so sorry.![]()

Sorry, I meant the symbol which is placed over the "army size" banners of the army pieces on the campaign map. Like this (circle added in paint):
The gold lion is what I'm referring to. Is there a way to change what is displayed in place of the lion? I assume the symbol is contained in some tga file or other, and I simply want to change it.
Again, a good tutorial, and I'm sorry for the confusion :) .
It´s OKYou find it here
data/banners/symbols1.tga.dds
Don´t forget edit Alpha1 too.
If you have some problems feel free to pm me![]()

I considered PM'ing, but I thought I might as well post my question here. Will it work if I create a banners folder inside a mod's Data folder?
Also, is there somewhere I can download symbols1.tga.dds, I don't want to unpack the whole game to change that one file ;) .
I try give that edit symbol (from symbols1.tga.dds) to MYMOD folder and symbol doesn´t function. So you must give it to vannila folder.

Well, I know its been some months since the last post, but I have a question here. When I go at this point

....and Im not very sure why..![]()
So, any help pls?
I have done this already:
![]()
..and after i turn on only the alpha channel, the brush turns to a "forbiding" mark, wherever I go to draw. If I click, it returns the message I posted before..
*scratches head again and again...*
Apologies for 3ple posting but i just solved my problem.. It was so silly I feel embarassed to mention it![]()
Cheers goes to NONO. Anyways, all I had to do was to select the bar of the alpha channel, so that the other channels be unselected while the alpha channel be highlighted. Silly, isnt it?![]()
