If there's no map.rwm you don't need to worry about it. The game automatically builds a new one if you start a game.

I sort of meant christain-from-the-crusader-kingdom-surrounded-by-muslims sort of character (the usual "kill 'em all" kind of guy).

All I know about Baldwin was that he was a leper, so other than leaving pieces of himself all over outremer (that was terrible, I know) who knows what he was really like (on the inside of course).


What happens if an AI controlled army attacks one of your armies during their turn? Would it get automatically auto-resolved or would you be able to fight it at the beginning of your turn?

It gets autoresolved. Turning battles on in hotseats only works for the attacking faction.

There is an extra line of code that allows players to defend against AI attacks, but it isn't really practical unless you're playing on the same computer. It stops the game for the battle on the AI turn, so you'd have extra saves uploaded each turn for people to fight defensive battles and each turn would take forever.

there are three additional fixes in this thread, in posts below the link to the 1.05 patch, that were released after the patch and after that note was written, that we are using

can you please check again to be sure?

if you've already dl'd the additional files and overwritten the existing files in the bc folder then we're good to go - pm me if you're still not sure

Just wanted to bud in quickly on the Baldwin issue. He was, according to something i read recently, neither the gentle, peaceable sort some movies would have you believe, nor as arrogant and norrowminded as some of his fellow crusaders. The image that seems to stand out is one of an aggressive and bold young man, desperate not to be brought down by his sickness (still rode into battle when he could no longer use either of his legs and one arm) who saw the reality of his situation very well: Saladin was not inclined to leave the Kingdom of Jerusalem in peace and would have to be fought. Wether he was particularily chivalrous or not, he gets my respsect for his courage and will to live.

(In case anyone is interested, the book which only features a chapter on Baldwin is "Histories Greaet Untold Stories" by Australian Joseph Cummins. A good read if youre quite into history (and let's face it, most people on the .org are history nerds))

I got a question from someone which made me think maybe my rule regarding battles on the first post wasn't clearly articulated enough.

I have re-phrased it as follows:

- All battles, including those between player-controlled factions, may be fought by the attacking player (against the VH AI), or auto-resolved.

This was always my intention, but as I said originally I'm open to debate on this if there is a strong feeling against it.

My turn is after everyone else's, what do I do for the AI turns? Do they just go normally and then I give it to ERE or what?

If I recall correctly, the AI turns will pass just as if playing a single player game. Then when the ERE comes up, you'll get to the password prompt for their turn. Press escape and save and upload the game.
