A ha ha! Rainbows and unicorns! Rainbows and unicorns!
I wouldn't have thought it would get to you before early next week
but these things can move quickly at the start when everyone's excited...

No, I was just wondering.

If it helps any a lot of the players I know in this game are pretty fast about getting turns done.

Is it a problem if I auto-resolve all fights because of lack of time to fight full battles ?
I know that should put me at a disadvantage...

From the rules post, emphasis added (or rather, subtracted from the rest of the sentence, as the whole thing was bolded in the original post ).
- All battles, including those between player-controlled factions, may be fought by the attacking player (against the VH AI), or auto-resolved.
Sounds like it would be ok to me. I'm looking forward most to playing out the battles myself.

I'm perfectly happy for you to auto-resolve them if you prefer - I will be auto-resolving some of mine too, just like in SPOriginally Posted by Tristan de Castelreng

Quick, Phonicsmonkey! Find out if the switch faction from player to AI command has an opposite.
It'd be pretty neat if we could take on players as we go.

It does - the Control <faction> console command works like a toggle switch from AI=>human=>AI controlOriginally Posted by Zim
Players (including Jason X) can join in and take over the AI factions at any point
though it might be better to get in earlier so there are still some around

Cool, 1-2 more players!
I hope that command works, phonicsmonkey. The more the better. Shame no Ayyubids or Sultanate, obviously the eastern Muslim factions are much cooler.

Taking the save.
Shhhhhhh Zim, please don't talk about the Ayyubids. It would make my life so much harder it is was human controlled (as if the garrison script didn't make it hard enough).

Well the Ayyubids are 1. someone Ive already played as Egypt and 2. in too much of a "set" position diplomatically. I want something I can play around with a bit

I think Ramses won the "furthest from Tristan" prize when he got in early with his bid for the Rajputs
clearly the game will result in an almighty face-off between the Armenians and the Solankis, with everyone inbetween crushed underfoot

meanwhile Oman will be migrating to Australia

What's that, Rossah? I should switch to the Ayyubids and make my only goal killing off the KOJ before succumbing to the might of Armenia? If you say so...

Don't get cocky there Zim. Gaza has been sacked and Damascus is under seige.
Quick question though, does the garrison script work for human players as well (as in would my cities spawn troops when under seige)?
The save's up for monkey.

It's not supposed to but I recall hearing some wierd things concerning the other BC hotseat at twcenter. For instance, the Kypchaks received a massive troop boost only meant for SP.

It is unfair as your cities' people should be able to rally and join in the fight like the AIs. I'm still going to crush the Ayyubids in Damascus even if the garrison doubles (experienced, proffessional soldiers vs an equal amount of inexperienced militia still results in a one-sided battle).
I wonder if the some of the other scripts that are present in SP will rear their head, for example the stack spawning scripts (which is to give the AI a chance of defending itself I know, but is still pretty unfair) like you mentioned.
"Okay, here come the cavalry, get your swords out lads!" - the Captain details his orders to the pikemen
As I understand it, some of the scripts are set up to run only when a faction is AI-controlled - I think this includes the garrison script, and the script that gives the Kypchaks extra stacks when they unite the steppes - this should be the case regardless of how many human players there are in the game.Originally Posted by rossahh
This could cause us problems if a) they don't work like that in practice, or b) we switch factions between AI and human control at the time those scripts are activated.
If we see anything like this we should report it to the BC team so they can maybe fix it in later releases.
Other scripts are set to run all the time, regardless of whether the faction is AI or human controlled - this includes the script that allows certain factions to horde if their last settlement is taken. I have asked at the twcenter for a list of these factions, but no response so far.
Either way, we'll just have to play the game as it comes, bearing in mind it's an early release of a complex mod and not perfect.

I suppose we shall have to wait and see. I happen to know that one of the scripts is for the Ayyubids is to get 2 stacks of troops near Damascus during their first turn, so that's bad. I suppose it could only get worse if a human player decided to take over the Ayyubids after their first turn as they would have 4 stacks of troops to play with against Jerusalem's 1 (which is now 3, but I only started with 1).
Can I just say phonicsmonkey, that allowing us to fight our own battles is a god-send. I lost just 1 (another was healed so it only counts as 1 death) troop at Gaza because I could fight it myself instead of letting the AI mismanage my army. It's gonna make this hotseat just a little bit more fun than any of the others.
"Okay, here come the cavalry, get your swords out lads!" - the Captain details his orders to the pikemen
I'll make a note of looking out for things. Obviously, if I notice and am able, I will disband and/or try to neutralize effects of such things.

Ahhh, Suqutra, that worthless piece of rock. I captured it during my Makurian game. Think I traded it to the Ayyubids for a better settlement.
