    Default The Naval StratMap Mod

    Ave Fellow EB Fans,

This small Mini-Mod for EB 1.1 will add new naval ships, trade ships & wagons, as well as new siege & naval blockade icons to EB's strategy map. All stratmap models are the great works of Riczu74. Here's a small preview....

    Romani

    Aedui & Casse

    Koinon Hellenon

    Ptolemaioi

Karthadastim **Notice as well the new trade ships**

    Saba

    Makedonia

    Getai

    Arveni

    Arche Seleukeia

    Epeiros

    Hayasdan

    Lusotannan

    Pontos

    Eleutheroi

    Siege & Naval Blockade Icons

The handful of factions i did not preview will have similar naval ships to their neighbor faction or bretheren so to speak but their own banners and texture. For example the Sweboz will use the same type ship as the Casse and Aedui but will have their own banners and texture of course.

I would like to thank Riczu74 for his great work and for graciously allowing me to use it in the form of this mini-mod/add-on for EB. Here is Riczu74's link to his forum over at TWC, in case anyone is interested in seeing some of his other work.
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36584

Of course i would also like to thank The EB Team for providing us their fans with this great mod and this sub-forum for the unofficial fan made stuff.

    Installation Instructions:
Installation is very simple as i took the liberty of putting everything in an installer.

    1) Download and run installer.
    2) Point installer to your main RTW Directory where you have EB installed. For example my directory looks like this:
    C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Europa Barbarorum
    your's may be
    C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome Total War
or whatever you may have renamed it to.
    3) Click Install. Installer will take care of the rest.

Is it possible to install it optionally? I think I'll be wanting to keep EB's siege icon. The new blockade one is very good though.

Absolutely....For example you could create a new folder somewhere..Let's say in the place where you like to keep all of your downloads and name it whatever you want. Run the installer and point it towards the folder you just created. It will install all the files in this folder and then you can pick and choose whatever you'd like to use.

    @ Kepper, anubis88
    Thanks

    As for save game compatibility:
I have to admit, i did not try it out on a save game. So if you do so, i'm afraid you'll have to do it at your own risk. To be on the safe side, i'll go ahead and say it's not. That way you won't come back here screaming at me that i ruined your campaign that you've been playing for the last 3 months.

but is the seige icons different for each faction? like will a barbarian faction have seige towers in the icons, as if they were civilized?

You"ll have to manually install in a manner of speaking, which is simple enough as long as your careful and certain of what your doing. Create a folder in a place of your choosing, then run the installer and point it towards the folder you just created and let it do it's thing. Once installed in this folder, you can then just pick and choose what you would like to use. Just be absolutely certain your placing everything in the appropriate file structure within your installation via copy/paste or drag and drop methods. Whatever you feel comfortable with. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then I strongly suggest that you don't, as you could very well place something incorrectly within the file structure and CTD. Anyhow, if you wish to continue, install everything except the files in the EB/data/model_strat/residences folder. This will leave you with the EB siege and naval blockade icons. Proceed at your own risk...Good luck.

I've manually installed, leaving out the siege icons. All the rest are great. Not that it's bad but I like the EB one more.

The graphic mod is quite simple to be manually installed - and yes, I've been diving into RTW/EB/other mods files that I feel rather comfortable when looking for something, so there was no problem for me to do that myself.
And - the mod is fully save game compatible.
I've preserved old EB icons to be used in the future - maybe naval blockade? Now I'm delighted with new ships and not sure whether go back to EB ships... but who knows...

The new naval blockade icon is better than the older, except the new, bigger ships don't fit into the ports.

Is this comming in 1.1? Because it seems great! Could there be diferent models for diferent class of ships? (believe not - hardcoded)

Sure, i'll updated for 1.1, presuming it will need to be updated that is. Most likely it will have to be. The recruitment of stratmap models, in this case ships; doesn't exactly work like the recruitment of soldiers, so i'm afraid not.

It seems that within a short time there will be released almost all modding puzzles I need to put into my EB 1.1 and mod myself to fit my preferences and finally start and finish a world-crushing Romani campaign!
