    Default Mafia v. Cult [Concluded]

This is a semi-open setup. There will be three factions in this game.
    1) The town, uninformed majority which wins by eliminating all others.
    2) The mafia, who kill people at night and win by outnumbering all other factions.
    3) The cult, who attempt to outnumber everyone else by converting them into their faction.

-Mafia cannot be converted by the cult.
-Cult will get a starting nightkill immunity.
-There will be some town characters impervious to either the mafia's nightkill or the Cult's conversion (same number of both, total number announced when game starts).
-Some other roles might be available if there are more players than the bare minimum. I'll decide whether to announce them depending on what roles they are.
    -Editing posts is not allowed.
-I haven't decided yet whether to allow private communication or not. It depends, partly, on the number of players.

Day will last 48 RL hours, Night 24. Tied votes are to be settled by tiebreaker rounds.

I'd really like there to be at the very least 20 players.

I am really concerned about balance here. Converting player to your cause is much much more powerful than just killing him. I think that either there should be more players immune to conversion than to night kill (or even no players immune to night kill besides cult leader), or there should be more anti-cult than anti-mafia roles on the town side

anyway, it seems to be interesting. In.

Worry not, my Eastern European friend, this is why the setup is only semi-open. :)

Only in games I host. Abuse of power is way more fun when it's selective.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

Hi! I'm interested, but before I join I want to be sure of the general environment. I see a lot of players I recognize from GitP and CivFanatics around here, is the vibe here similar? I ask because I'm looking for some more games but I don't think I could handle anything above a casual level of play and I don't want to be a letdown to my team and the other players in general.

Yes, the style is largely casual but you are expected to play seriously and be at least midly useful (well, that's what your teammates will expect… otherwise they'll lynch you for inactivity if, or rather when, they run out of ideas, which for such imaginative people happens surprisingly often).

I'll join against my better judgement. (general RL issues and yet more international work travel in the next couple of weeks - I'll be in Dublin from 1/26 to 2/1 if anyone here will be there and wants to meet up. Let me know).
Always meet on the level, act by the plumb and part on the square.

I'm in nothing right now, but I generally don't invest heavily in a town v mafia v cult setup.

So when I join and say I'm a meat shield...

Cue Zack pointing out it's never been true approximately now.

Meat shield pizza. You need the bodies, I'll be a body.

probably be in my best interests not to, but...

I can't not, really, if pizza's in. I just realized. Have we even played together? If so, when? I remember playing in each other's games, but...

    hm

    And hey everyone else!
