Basically the same than EB 1.1 with a higher resolution (512). The skin was done for my application as EB member. Simply unzip the archive in your RTW folder. It contains only a skin for this unit, thus the XXMM. Cause we intend to release EB2 before 2100.

They appear accurate to me (judging just from the screen shots). You must remember that the ancients (particulary the Romans) are much shorter than people of today.

this will sound awful, but the face looks wierd. not that I can say anything, as my skinning experience streches to putting pornography on a shield.

yep I have some questions... I hope you take it as a constructive critic

there's something... weird -since I lack a better word- with the faces... I don't know exaclty what

and weell just I dont really like the backs of the shields... too red for me
    _____>> old ones >>______

and lastly what happened to the Sporran
The apron consisted of a number of leather thongs to which were riveted metal plates, and weighted with bronze. It could have been either decorative, protection for the genitals or a combination of both.

    Hi there.

First of all thank you for posting!

Ok, according to critics I'll make some corrections on the faces

I'also check my the back shield. (Contrast enhancing, plus some checking on how it should look.) It is arguable however in the case of shield darkening. I mean if painted it would have probably the same color on both sides. It is just a matter of considering the back side as in shadow. (I'll do some test here also.) Considering shield size it is the same as in the original EB unit.

Now concerning the apron, it is also arguable if it should be present or not. According to the sources I used it should be a leather belt with bronze embossed plates nailed on it. (Not rendered due to some mapping issues.) I'll do then the following : one version with apron, one without.

I'll come back to you when it is finished. (Let's say to more weeks!!! )

    Regards

    Martel

I'm conviced, by your recent changes. I'm downloading right now.

Thank you fot these new legionnaries.

But after a few battles with them I began to notice a little detail ( I know it's nothing really important but..): their helmet don't look as shiny as the evocatae or just the centurio (I'm using DS Legionnary "fix") and by so they look finaly a bit "weird".

I just wanted to share this feeling. In the hope that they will be changed again . Bye.

Thank you sir for these excellent skins, I´ve used and enjoyed them very much ever since you uploaded them.
It may be uncalled for but in the light of the other comments here I´ve decided to, respectfully, give you some feedback aswell.
First of all I really like the slim legionnaires, their grimy tunics and dark and amazingly well-made lorica hamatae, and the little details in the bronze surface of the galea ( like those near-invisible circular patterns which seems a common occurance on similar bronze-works ) but the color of the bronze seems off; too yellowish and not enough reflection/light, and they appear a bit misplaced when near other bronze-wearing units, even though bronze comes in many shades. Speaking of colors those of the scuta do not resemble the drab red and yellow otherwise seen with the romans in EB, so there might be some inconsistency with centurions especially, not that I cannot appreciate the "louder" color which, with the high resolution, lends to a sharper appearance without the screaming of color of some mods or vanilla RTW. Now, in regards to their faces I believe that what puts some people off about them is, as with the very beautiful Cohors Imperatoria ( I find it worthy of repeating that I love those skins, despite their minor bulkiness when compared to other units ) and Evocata + late centurions of vanilla EB, their original and highly detailed faces where most are accustomed to RTW´s standard manner of portraying facial features, which is in many ways a style of its own; rather compact, thin-lipped and grim-faced, usually with the helmet covering the forehead as far as the eye-brows and the eye-region in varying degrees of shadow. This style, in EB where almost everything has changed perhaps most visible still in the roman faction, often gives the units a "stoic" expression when up close, as of battle-hardened men cut in stone ( whereas yours look more alive ), but also seem appropriate enough for a neutral, somewhat nondescript appearance when viewed from above, working in favour of the illusion that they are not all clones. It is clear when mixing the sharply drawn eyes and brow of your units with other more standardized faces ( my comparison is between other units of the same faction mainly ) that there is an inconsistency of styles, and the legionnaires´ unshaven condition which I like very much by the way, also adds to this. I have no problem with this variety however and when moving the camera just slightly this difference becomes unnoticeable and they match splendidly with the abovementioned vanilla EB Imperatoria and Evocata skins.

I hope my intention is not mistaken as your work is much appreciated.

Thank you guys!!! I'm really glad you like it!!!

Thank also for your suggestions about reflexions, and shield color. I'm not sure however when I'll be able to do them, according to the fact there is overwhelming work on EB2 at the moment... And I understand the face problematic, but I think that for the moment the time required to improve them slightly is just too high. (There probably mapping extension and/or compression on them.)

But stay tuned, it will surely comes!!!

AFAIK, those only came into existence in late 1st century BC~early 1st century AD. The legionaries on altar of Ahenobarbus doesn't have any of them.

I dont want to sound like a boor but, I know whats wrong with the faces. Its the shape of the head, it expands above the eyes so it looks like they have a massive brain and a squished face, the armour though looks top notch, good job!
