The Keep is the second stage building in the castle line. It is required for many of the Level 2 buildings, and necessary to move on to the higher level buildings.
As a defensive structure, the Keep is a big improvement on the Fort. It consists of an enclosed area with stone walls, arrow towers and a gate. 420 troops can be garrisoned in the Keep (cavalry count as 2 men each).
Establishing a Keep (or any building in the castle line) has some effect on the province happiness, but it is unclear how much as this is hardcoded.
The Keep has a -15 magnetism value for mercenary recruitment.
TBD - when do arrow towers start? gate, wall, tower hitpoints needed.
