Prologue

Just when harsh winter ended and we were all happily expecting spring to bring us back trade and food, ill rumor infested our homeland. Our lord and guide, one that gave all his life for us, our Ardruire, Caradog, died. Thus all Goidils that count themselves worthy set foot to the Teamhaidh to honor great man's life. Thousands of people came to the funeral ceremony at the biggest temple of Teamhaidh, and they were all sad because of their loss. Many of them were astonished by the great temple complexes and marvelous buildings they could nevere even imagine before. The priests were gardening and prunning bushes as if nothing had happened. Beautiful gardens spread between long buildings and trees from distant lands rose on the temple hills. And there, at the far top of the hill, where the high kings themselves rests, were positioned Dubosaverlacica, the elite of the elite, to protect the remains of their former leader. A man could not looked at them for long, since their scale armour glittered in the sun, and the look of their faces covered with chain put fear in the bravest souls.

The movement of the crowd suddenly stopped and a single man made his way to the top where he stepped on a higher platform so he could be seen by everyone. One that were close enough could allready recognised their new leader, also well respected, Caradog's firstborn - Gwenddolau. Three nobles stood nearby acording to the ritual. The oldest of the Goidil council of the seniors was nealing near him until he spoke the promise and the enthroning process was finished. The crowed hailed their new leader as he spoke proudly:

»You may wonder, why I, the Goidi Ardruire, had the courage to came here without protection? Beacause the man we are mourning today was so recpected, that even greatest of the great enemies wouldn't dare to desecrate this holy place with blood. This man together with his ancestors created what we now call the Goidil state. When his grandfather united the Hibernia under Goidil rule there was nothing else in this land to be proud of. Caradog gave us what we can call a city! His farming reforms made land more prosperous the it was ever before! His founding of a professional and paid Goidil army gave our state the feeling of safety and respect among the other tribes! And we all now what his greatest achievement was. Since we joined with Casse tribal confederation from the Great ireland in the economic union our trade flourishes and cities are growing. The taxation and customs between the two countries are minimised and thus trading simpler. Because of this man the Goidils live a better life and I think that he deserves to be celebrated and not mourned. As for me, I will give my best to lead this country as he did. Behold the inheritance he left us and praise him!!!«

The Goidils nealed, and showed respect to their new leader while he was making his way through the crowd to his chariot. The chariots weren't present in Hibernia until three decades ago, when in a sign of friendship a Casse bren gave one to Caradog. »Make way, make way for the Ardruire!« was shouting the driver, and soon they were driving through the woods, acoss the plains of Cruddain. The valley of An Lagáin – the river of the lowland could be seen from afar. Gwenddolau knew what great responsability he inherited.
He remembered his fathers teachings: »The Ardruire must now what is right and true.« His father used to tell him many things about rulership and yet now he was afraid and lost. He was also told many times that war brings death and destuction in every aspect, and the ruler should do everything to make life of the commonfolk better. Thus war should never be declared. That massage the former Ardruire passed on to his son by various stories and myths until Gwenddolau believed that trade and good planing of economy can bring greater riches than conquest.
